I think he's pretty good generally. It's about drawing the guest into talking and not about the presenter, which I think he does. Obviously he doesn't need to do that with Danny as he loves talking and is very comfortable in a studio environment. I used to listen to the carp cast a little bit and that was basically that Jamie plonker just talking about himself to whatever ‘guest' happened to be on that week. It was unbearable.

I listened to it the other day. Danny mentioned developing the spod after seeing it being used on mercers (I think). I seem to remember people using home made Spods at Sutton at Hone in 1984. Does anyone know when Spods were first in use. Obviously at the time they would have been homemade.

Didnt Martin Locke produce the first commercially available spod? I no they were being used on places like Dartford lakes in the early 80's. Thats where the word "Spod" was first coined,an abbreviation of another word that escapes me.

Think Jim Gibbinson had very early use/development of putting particles out at range.
Dopplegangers I think they were called. could be wrong.
All Found a diagram in the 1984 The carp catcher book, by Alf Martin on page 100. So if it was in print in the spring of 1984, it was well in use before this.
Small bait dropper 2.1/4" wide by 4" long with several 1/4" holes drilled along the length, with a polystyrene cone stuck on the nose/lid.

I listened to this today .... I found it quite interesting ... obvs very Danny/Korda focused ..... I found Danny quite engaging/interesting .... Interestingly I have always found Korda's marketing to be very "chavvy" yet dont think Danny came across this way (maturity perhaps?) .... Perhaps Ali's departure will gain Korda a slightly more mature reputation/demographic .... i think the brand is already showing signs of "growing up"

I've always really liked him but could also see why some haven't. He's unapologetically himself and it's definitely easier to see in the recent podcast - I thought he came across excellently.

The one with DF was decent but the latest one with Spooner/Dove is a bit of a borefest imo. Bit of a strategical error for me in that they have this great new presenter (and I do genuinely think he is great) and decide to open with the standard DF one followed by what is essentially an advert for Monster Carp. They should have opened with DF then some kind of big hitter/exclusive (a Tel or a Laney or some other genuinely intriguing character). They should have made the most of Rich Stewarts arrival with something a bit more special imo.

I agree. The latest one was of no Interest to me, though it may well have appealed to some of the younger listeners. I suspect they are bedding in the new presenter before he starts with some more interesting interviewees.

I think the new presenters trying too hard to push certain areas of questions, getting people to elaborate constantly and I get that he's there to get info out of people but at the moment he's trying to push questions that aren't there...maybe he will settle down but at the minute it's not my cup of tea.

Although the first episode was OK I don't find the new fella a bit Dull, his style is not particularly natural IMO. His questioning comes across as if he's just read some sort of Coaching / Interview Manual, very forced and as he f he's practicing something he learned on a course last week.
Hope it gets better as I actually quite enjoyed a lot of the previous podcasts and in general Carp podcasts do seem to struggle a bit which is surprising baring in mind the size of the audience.
