Bit off topic but I've just watched a vid showing a drained down lake in France. If you've never had the chance to see this in the flesh. Have a look. It's very thought provoking if you not seen it before. Matthew Collins channel on you tube. Well worth a watch.

There were some Simon Scott articles in carp ology about a drained out lake, I bought the mag to read it but haven't got round to it yet
@Andy I'm not sure a gudgeon match would breach the rules

Another victory as ever for the corporate media machine in which lashings of embellishment laden phantasy carping porn sets the tongues wagging serving to justify it's content again as evident by rising sales. On screen it's promoting a dream whilst real experience paints a more sobering reality as evident with second-hand sales of tackle surplus to requirements upon a taste of the real world.
Enjoyed the Simon Bater one, you could see his enthusiasm and enjoyment from just fishing, eyes sparkling.
Also the Ben Hamilton one as it pretty much mirrors the way I fish, in the edge with mainly particles but days only for me.

Next you'll be telling us that Terry Hearn is subliminally forcing us to buy ESP kettles... I'm guessing you've not watched any of the Thinking Anglers films?
I really enjoyed Si Bater and Ben Hamilton. I like the stories and just escaping into some lovely lakes and carp tales.
The marketing is fine. I know what I'm getting when I watch these films. Doesn't send me immediately to the internet to purchase bait/hooks/line.

This one had some but not enough

I've watched all 8 of these and I just handed over my credit card details to Thinking Anglers and told them to send me one of everything they make. I've thrown out any gear that isn't TA and I'm booked in for a TA tattoo.
