Mate I drove 20 miles yesterday to fish, no one was in my car, no one was at the lake and I'm still here on my own. The alternative was to manage an early shift signing in 70+ people who may or may not have the virus I know where I'm less likely to get or pass on the virus!

My everyday working life verses going fishing and my take on it.
As I own a company in construction myself and my employees can go to work (considered key workers
)
They "The Government" have expected me to work right through this where on a daily basis I could come into contact with a minimum and upwards of 20 people in my daily routine probably double that some days.
Whilst I'm currently wearing a facemask and washing and sanitising my hands doing my best to remain 2 metres away from another person which got dropped to 1 metre with no evidence that I'm fully protected as well as others protected from me so the best I can hope is it helps in some way, but then I return home to my bubble and just hope i've not got infected or pass it on to my family.
Now, if I get in my van in the morning fueled up and provisions bought the day before on my own and drive to anyone of the lakes I fish from 10 minutes to 40 minutes at the furthest then get out in an open environment where at any of the lakes I can keep at a minimum of 15 yards potentially upto 300 yards away from other swims and anglers depending on the lake I choose to fish should I consider myself at any more risk than going to work on a daily basis which is what they expect from me, two of the fisheries I don't even have to get out of the van until I'm parked behind the swim, if I open or shut a gate I sanitize my hands before and after.
Which is the bigger risk? the answer is probably both but to me if the Government want me to carry on as normal in my daily working life I will with my hobby fishing, I'm on my own in my own vehicle whether that's 4 minutes or 4 hours if i'm not in contact with anyone what should it matter.

Going fishing on your own doesn't generate any revenue, whereas you going to work does. You pay wages, you buy materials you pay tax. Going fishing benefits only yourself whereas going to work benefits the economy and country as a whole.
Going to work could therefore be seen as a worthwhile risk, whereas going fishing could be seen as a non essential risk.

Very good point.
There's also the divide this is starting to create when some sectors - like construction - are expected to still work whilst some others are on another furlough. People are starting to feel resentment when some individuals are treating this as an extended paid holiday.
That's not to downplay the thousands who would be much happier in work and those who increasingly know that the furlough scheme is simply prolonging the inevitable loss of job.

Go fishing and enjoy it. You're allowed to. End of story. Anyone trying to make it anything apart from perfectly fine to go fishing is a complete killjoy and needs outcasting from society. If you're worried about corona then don't go and sit in your house. Let everyone else be.

How does it not generate any revenue I'am one of thousands? the money I earn and then spend in the tackle shops has a supply chain of manufacturers so people are then further employed in the fishing industry do they not benefit from me buying fishing consumables/bait/tickets along with all the other anglers which is all part of the bigger picture, the shops and manufacturers in whatever industry all benefit and are putting into the ECONOMY it is all subject to TAX and VAT and so the wheels keep on turning.
Is my input into the economy any less important than others? I think not and I will continue whilst I can as safely as I can while I can make my own decisions and evaluate my own risk I will, it is not going to be made by a dystopian government set of rules based around a few medical experts advise? the definition of an expert "x marks the spot and a spurt is a drip under pressure"
They are treating us like mushrooms or veal calves both covered in **** and kept in the dark unable to make our own choices, contact is the vehicle for transmission if i'm not in contact with anyone whilst fishing then surely Im at less risk than being at work in contact with many, granted still at a risk but at risk either way so who deems what is a worthwhile or evaluated risk? someone living a different life to mine and knows absolutely nothing about me.

How is it inevitable,I have just been put on furlough for the second time.During the first furlough I had a payrise,a lump sum on my pension and paid 100%,this second furlough we are all being paid 100% again so far.I do work for a massive retail company and they have been absolutely amazing throughout,they even gave us a bonus when we returned from the first furlough period.

There have been people already lost their jobs during Furlough time,
i have worked all the way thru and consider myself very fortunate to work for the company i do.
just because you are getting top notch benefits now doesnt mean your massive retail company wont cut costs going forward.

I meant that for some people it's inevitable - not all.

Well I came back from my Syndi this morning, (blanked.... 
) which is about 40 miles away and the volume of traffic on the road was only very slightly less than normal.....so either people aren't taking Lockdown 2 seriously or there are an awful lot of essential journeys.....
