Libel deformation cases are the reserve of the wealthy in the UK due to the exorbitant costs which can easily spiral into the hundreds of thousands!! I believe the Wagatha Christie case is somewhere in the region of £600,000 per plaintiff

Reading all of this, the hardcore barbel boys had it right all along. No wonder they snear at carp anglers with utter distain and total contempt. Carp angling is up the swanny.

All so pointless. ****ing podcasts. ****ing carp matches. They need to jog on back to the Avenue with the former Korda bloke who's about to start putting Israeli carp on mainstream TV.... Because it's easy innit.

I've said before on this board it's not just the match guys using this method of gaining an advantage over other anglers. It's been used on the continent that I know of with devastating results for over 18 months ( admitted it came from the match world) on recreational trips. Hard to stop when you can guarantee a catch filled week when the cost of a blank could be £2k+ plus holiday time etc.
Israeli carp and the people involved in filling our lakes are bell ends mate. Have a good trip

The silence from the tackle and bait companies represented is shocking. In any other ‘sport' the club/team/sponsor would be forced to investigate if a representative had been accused of cheating.
If the Anglers Times/ Carpfeed had any journalists worth their salt they should be on the case too.

If you think about it, the reason they don't want this to be resolved is because if it is proven then every future competition will have to be tested to ensure it or anything similar is not present in any competitors baits. The cost and logistics of this would be so prohibitive as to render the event unfeasible.
Of course they could make all entrants sign an affidavit to say they aren't using any prohibited substances. Who would believe them?

Let's face it, many carp anglers feel that match fishing for money is a stain on the pastime anyway. Maybe the greed of the cheats could have put it to bed for good.
If they can't police what chemicals people are putting into the lakes then they shouldn't be allowed to use the lakes and abuse the stock. The sponsors of these events should at least want some answers.

Tackle companies probably don't care. But the bait companies should make a statement as potentially there bait has been sold to the public under false pretences.

Soon, hormones, 40lb stock fish and the likes will become accepted and dare I say it, credible, because all these shallow ****s trying to claim fame from the past time will drive it down this route even if they have not already!!!
It's ****ed, the very foundations of the pastime such as special old fish, the chase, the capture, the merit that comes with it are becoming a distant past and that's down to fame seekng ****s trying to promote themselves with any ****ter that they can get in their hands on, no respect for history of the pastime or anything else, just their OWN personal gains
It's simple, publicity bans. It will stop all the bollox and take fishing back to what it should be, man in pursuit of big old carp because it's his passion, not to feed his desire and be the tool for self promotion

I agree with what you are saying, however if what you wish for came true, then there would be only word of mouth. If you know the right people your in. Otherwise your oblivious and irrelevant. The carp scene would go back to where it was 45 years ago when I started. Secret Squirrel. No merchandise no innovation for lack of investment. Waters would become neglected and fish would die. Like it or not the future will not be the same as the past. Just look at what Wraysbury has become. The purists may not like it but it is the future. That or lakes get backfilled and turned into housing estates.
