New EU biometric border checks due to be rolled out at the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel next month have been delayed again.

British passengers were due to start having their photo and fingerprints taken from 10 April to be allowed to enter France.

But the authorities there say they are having ongoing technical issues with the new Entry/Exit system (EES).

In a statement, LeShuttle said: "Full biometric checks will be introduced once we receive the formal go-ahead, with the rollout carefully scheduled and coordinated."

A spokesperson for the Port of Dover says they are "waiting until current issues with the French technology are resolved and thorough testing at Dover has been conducted".

That's not communism, it's the EU protecting their borders.

It's a tax. We have done the same under the guise of security, but i've seen first hand how easy it is to get around.

I've been to three different countries since implementation and not had any checks done. Juxt controls and smaller ports will have a lot of problems with queues. Airports have have planes leave half empty due to this, hence why Greece have turned round and said they aren't going to do any checks full stop (theres a surprise)

It's a massive cluster.

I read yesterday, Greece will be suspending EES during busy times and now Italy and Portugal will be doing the same.
It also said France and Croatia are considering following suit....fingers crossed!

i went to france start of may and they were implementing it but the queues were so long it was unreal so they gave up using it and diverted us to a small toll both window where they just stamped our passports,
