It's the amount of people that have just commented and ignored it that does it for me. The fact there's even some on this forum that think it's acceptable too.

Using a tree isn't the problem, its the wandering off for a cuppa and letting the fish flap around. I usually put one end of a weighbar in the crook of a branch and the other on my shoulder.
I'd rather use a tree than those tripod things with big fish TBH......

Yeah I'm not against using a tree to weigh a fish, especially if you're on your own. This prat wasn't so there is absolutely no need to do it. Two people and a heavy duty storm pole or a hefty branch if you have to.

It was probably nice and dry after 10 minutes too. Another thought from me, and something I don't think anybody cares about because we fish for them. All that mass sat on its internal organs that are usually suspended in water, and as usual dragging it to the bank with its lip, I suppose looking at it, leaving it with a chance of dropping a few feet from a tree onto the floor is something else

Going off on a tangent - people spend far too much time with fish out of the water getting shots. You see some fish photo'd from every angle on the land (and lets face it, it won't just be one pic from each angle), then the ubiquitous "in the lake shots". People checking the shots are ok before moving to the next angle - is it really needed? Chucking a bit of water over them every now and then isn't the answer, as below - think what their internals are going through.....

Maybe if it goes on to die they might think about banning him. Thankfully his names out there so other fisheries can make their own choice.

No need to weigh it as it was only caught the week before. At least that video has condemned him to never getting a ticket for any half decent venue.

Because it's been done since the day we got scales haha.
Not saying it should touch the tree but if you're in attendance you can manage all tge risk perfectly well. If someone tried to smack me for safely weighing a fish they'd get a snack right back mate 😂
