This thread depresses me... I left UK carping in 1996 when it certainly wasn't like this!

Won't bore you with the range of huge inland seas we have here with relatively unknown carp potential.

We just can't usually find a way to fish them from the bank...

I wouldn't get too despondent Tim.

Notice that it's the same negative Nora's bringing their dark clouds to every thread.

Modern fishing is rubbish, modern reels are rubbish, modern life is rubbish etc etc etc.

There is still plenty of lovely fishing out there, these places just don't have websites or social media accounts.

OK so yes ,there ARE ,one or two places that are quiet..

Place 1..no anglers ..only me
Place 2..private members club,..awesome Place
Place 3..private lake,only me ..

So they exist,however,as always I tell the truth,most of the lakes on my personel list have been ruined by going into private ownership,stopping fishing or the ever dominant tourist trade,now that genre really has done some dmg,if you have lost the amount of places available ..to tourism ,and eco babble ,some might understand my angst..

In the last two weeks,lake I know,turning into a Zen Park,the other now has dreadful caravans put right next to the lake,I mean literally next to the lake,another,stocked by Peter Mohan,is having eco pods on the lake itself.....no fishing allowed..

Yes, I know, my old mates keep me informed on those lovely kind of places, just sad that a lot of 'new' carp anglers will never experience that kind of fishing.

Funny thing is if you look at their FB page you'll see they come from as far away as the Midlands and beyond, proper holiday camps come the summer, the locals dont get a look in. One place even has an ice cream van doing laps of the lake FFS.

I think a lot of the problems with fishing is that there are so many day ticket waters, and fewer and fewer under club control.
Many clubs you have a bailiff, who got rid of idiots; you never knew when he would turn up and you didn't argue with him.

Not being able to move swim annoys the heck out of me. I spend a fair amount of time watching the water, so if I see fish I want to be able to move onto them, although if they are in another anglers swim, I ain't disturbing him by getting too close.

I can understand the owner wanting pictures of his fish, it serves a couple of purposes. Firstly and obviously he can check growth rates and captures. Then we also have he knows the fish is still in the water. After the problems of predation etc, this is worthwhile.
So VLT, I'm sorry, I disagree with your comments.
