I mentioned last year I prep my own, and there is a reason for it.
When I was fishing Nazeing in the summer I took some I had prepared but was cleaned out by feeding fish, so had to pop into Hoddesdon to buy some from Johnson Ross. The easy option was a large jar of mixed particles.
When I got back to the swim and opened the jar, they were awful. Even in the warmth, the particles were in a solid lump with fat and had to be broken up by hand.
When I prepare my own I can get them to my own specs, either with extra water to mix in with Vitalin, or sticky.
I have found with pigeon conditioner that soak and boil is more attractive than plain soak in boiling water in a bucket.
I do also like adding garlic oil.

I prep mine I get bird food from Poundland (one with no nuts in) 2.5kilo bag for £2(I think) I go to the Asian shops by my missus house and buy lentils and other beans and then soak and boil the normal way it helps bulk out the bait and it's cheaper.
I try and buy a bag of stuff a week from November on wards and keep it sealed in boxes

not sure if everyone else is the same but i like to be able to let the pre soak ferment and then let it ferment again after boiling.

Do my own but I do have a few empty jars to refill for the odd fishery that rules say something like 'only ready made particles allowed'

Used peanuts for the first time extensively last year. Can't say they helped me at all. I struggled a treat on the water I was fishing and the coots got addicted to them on the backup water!!
I know a few that swear by them and see very good catches so I put it down to me not the bait.
Apparently the redskin peanuts are miles better but also cost miles more!

The best reaction I have ever seen in a feeding situation was a group of fish ripping into a 7 day old bucket of fermented Maize which had been sat in a warm suntrapped conservatory. I use around 400g of Morrisons Golden Syrup per 5kg of Prepped Maize, and always had a conveyor belt of maize that was "ready" and maize that was "brewing". Each week, I'd just take 5kg of maize out the conservatory then make another bucket up after getting in from my overnighter. This of course can be done for many other particles which can break down and release sugars.
Bottom line is, I cannot justify using 80kg of boilies compared to 80kg of seeds, plus I wanted to use something different that would keep fish on a spot for longer. It's an absolute no brainer for me. I was probably the only person using Maize on my pond last year, let alone the only one who used 80kg on marginal spots, whereas the others were preserving their 10 quid a kilo by firing out 10 or 20 baits with a catapult and crossing their fingers.

I took a 10ltr bucket down to canal on my 3 day session tipped it in and then when I done my actual 3 dayer later that day I took another 2 x 10 ltr buckets with me full of particles as well as 2/3 kilos of boilies, over 3 days it worked though as final morning of my last day 4:30am I had a few bleeps then I seen waves going down the canal,4:45am rod tore off and had my PB common I reckon it had come along the inside of the near bank and was tipping up and it's tail was causing all the waves as it was preoccupied with the particles and it was wafting it's tail around just under surface.
I needed that much bait to hold any carp that come along up and down the canal to stop them in their tracks to feed.
