There's no evidence against him either though apart from a known stirrer doing what he loves and I've heard the time span from his capture to it popping up dead at anything from two weeks to five weeks depending who's telling the story. Fact is any carp caught is stressed after capture and no matter how good the fish cared for and how quickly it is returned it could die and most will say it's never happened to me or anyone I know it can happen and the only way to guarantee it doesn't would be not to catch them in the first place.

That's true, but I feel if I had something sat on my camera that would quash all hearsay & rumour I'd probably just put it out there

On the flip side if random fellas were asking me to disprove hearsay & rumour that came from Slim Jelley's mouth I'd probably just laugh at them.

He emphasised several times that he retained the fish "from 2am until first light" which is about 5am in August so photos done by 6am?

Maybe. I think 99.9% of the chaps subscribed to CYP will know exactly what Slim is really like. I'd honestly be surprised if the business is affected at all. Still, Elliot felt the need to do the video so he must be concerned in some capacity.

I know a few guys on the Burghfield ticket. Was a lovely fish that croaked it, one of the real gems (Baz Llloyd fish). No idea about the sacking story and what the actual truth was but, for a bloke that owns a social media company, this would have made good viewing on one of his movies. As has been mentioned, the guy just needs to say when it was released back into the lake as there will undoubtedly be video footage and stills. Will then be put to bed. On the flipside, if it was sacked up for hours after first light whilst waiting for a full film crew to rock up, it makes the bloke a **** in my book.
That's the trouble with the internet the unconscious bias we have. Jim the stroke puller and Elliot the modern day Carpy icon. I'm sure whatever the truth is Elliot was devastated and at worst it is bad luck not bad angling. The trouble for all the people that want to play out their angling for a living is this comes with the territory- Schofield and the intern wouldn't even make pub chat if it was in a normal office.
This could have been Terry Hearn or anyone that puts in such effort for slim rewards, they want the very best possible photos - we all do, but if you earn your money by taking great stills and videos people will always question why you don't make releasing the fish as easy and stress free as possible with very good equipment to hand to capture the moment.
As others have said, retainers full of 20s and 30s plus rechucking a spare rod once in the net isn't good angling - it's greed, selfishness or whatever. I'd allow 1hour only to retain fish in a sling and absolutely no recasting rods until all fish are returned - worry about what you've got, not clicks, not £s or a bait deal. Enjoy it.

Well said. I actually witnessed first hand last year a guy with 3 retainers and 2 nets, all with fish in them. God knows how long they had been in there but the worrying thing was he still had 3 rods out fishing!

It's a bit of a sad case to be honest and a real shame that the fish has died. It happens though. On one side I feel sorry for Eliot as nobody would wish this on anybody and he seems like a nice bloke. Nonetheless, no fish should be sacked for that long in the summer. Unfortunately, it seems like some pretty sharp and aggressive knives are being sharpened and from what I have seen they are pretty relentless! This will soon pass and be written off as another sad episode that once again makes carp anglers look like fools!
