Stunning venue

we've had 2 1/2 ft of snow over the last week - temps are currently -10 & my winter venue has had a lid on since mid December - not looking like we are gong to get a thaw any time soon too.

good luck to those getting out over the next couple of weeks - the fish are in their best conditions now - hope you get a few in your nets.

Sat on the end of an easterly right now lovey sun but absolutely bitter! Think wind swings southerly and temps rise with incoming rain late wed early thurs.... god knows why but im excited and expectant on a big open pit.... love it!

A little change in the weather gets us all twitching with expectation but it's going to take a long time before any slightly better weather makes a change in lake temperature and the fish wake up a bit more.
A local syndicate has been doing a fair few fish but I think the bit of supplementary feeding has kept them grubbing around.

For me it's the light levels, they will be moving, it's not really been that cold for us down south, sod fishing where Jamie is!

I agree with the former but not the latter ime. A warm wind can make the fish totally active. Once the warm spell has passed they will return to relative inactivity again though.

On a water I fished, gravel pit to double digit feet depth, a change like this expected warm wind would have them porpoising out following it...I kid you not. The night prior was a freezer, the next morning between 11-1400 the fish just went nuts, oddly being caught on the deck though!!

I'm spending my first night on the bank in nearly five years this Friday night.

Shallow silty estate lake kind a setup - I'm gonna empty it 😂

Agree. Carp are incredibly sensitive to temp fluctuation - a fraction of a degree can make a difference. Around my way we have 40mph+ winds with 15 C this Friday. That's enough to turn the water over completely on smaller (<10 acre) waters and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see water temps climb by 3 or even 4 degrees. I'd be amazed if the carp aren't nutting out on most smaller waters come Saturday morning. Even the big pits will climb a degree or 2 imo.

it's "rough with the smooth" - cold winters & hot summers. Our spring seems to be a couple of months behind yours - by mid May it will be 20+ degrees every day until Halloween

I am always happy to see everyone in the UK catching as you come out of winter as it helps create a bit of desire for me to get out.

I've been getting all the bits sorted ready to do a few nights in the kinder months on an easy water, but figured with a weather front coming in I shouldn't wait, so I'm straight in on one of the hardest waters my club have 😂😂

Got that excitement from the anticipation building up already 😃.
