I have stacks of stuff I very rarely use and I mean stacks.
The only recent purchase I've made is a baitboat, for my French trips and possibly on the river here in Spain, coming up to 69 yrs old in May, I'm not that keen on inflatables or baiting up with a spod for too long.
Havent bought any rods for maybe 5-6 years, reels for about 17 years, Still use original Delkim Txi alarms, Solar sod pod, or another pod I bought here in Spain for the river.
So much gear it's crazy, can't see me buying anything more to be honest.....
Rods I use mostly
3 x Century 12' 3.25lb tc
3 x Harrison Ballista 12' 3lb tc
3 x Sportex 12'6'' 3.5lb tc
2 x Shimano 12' 3lb tc
Reels I use mostly
3 x Shimano big pit LC
3 x Shimano 10000 XTEA
3 x Shimano 8010
3 x Shimano 4500
2 x Shimano 4500 Baitrunner Plus
Three bivies, 2 bedchairs, about 6 unhooking mats, 4 nets, two chairs plus all the other stuff

Do you have any tip for superlight travel or telescopic spinning rod? Getting into more hike&strike mood lately and cant decide what to get... I will also not be buying any other tackle in 2022 and for 2023 I decided to ditch boilies and fish only particles, mostly tigers.

Having come back to carping in 2020 after a few years fluff chucking etc, I've spent far too much in the last couple of years. This year it's just going to be the essentials, though I do fancy a new sleeping bag, <£40. My biggest expense will be diesel. I've just filled my car up, gauge was showing over 1/4 tank and 150 mile range on the trip, but I'm off fishing tomorrow. Used pay at pump and it cut out at the £99 limit, first time that's happened to me!

I always ask myself two questions when considering a purchase: Do I want it or do I need it? If I honestly think I need it then I buy it. If I honestly don't need it but want it then I buy it and just feel bad about myself for a few days. Thankfully I've never really been easily suckered into new fads though and my simplistic approach doesn't really lend itself to buying loads of kit. I tend to only replace stuff when it breaks which is not very often because I prefer to pay extra initially for quality gear. I've never really understood people who change bait, mainline, hook patterns etc all the time.

Trouble is Joss, i just can't seem to sell or throw away any fishing tackle, I think it must be some sort of 'condition' without a cure.

I tend to keep stuff after it “retires” as there is always a story to tell.
I have 3 aero tecnium 10000xt with nine spare spools all retired now due to parts and wanting them to last, I have 4 of the aero technium MGS 120000 XTB original black mags which are absolutely fine. Nothing wrong with them. All I want is more spare spools.
Rods are where I let myself down lol. For 4 treb lights from blackys custom rods that had half the fittings missing, poor build and I'm loathed to use them until I can afford a strip and rebuild. They already would have been but Clayton rods aren't doing rebuilds currently.
I have my three free spirit xs which were work houses for me for I'd imagine well over 13 years maybe longer, I bought three scopes in 2020 as ar times I'm on public transport and the pack down size just makes sense.
If I could the former beginners rods, lures rods, sea rods, rods my parents bought me as a child, rods thst just seem to accumulate there is probably 50 or more. However even ones that are FUBAR have a story and I personally enjoy having memories triggered, I even have the first float I ever used when coarse fishing, and in a tub, buried in tge freezer now for nostalgia, my very first EVER baits I made. Little palm rolled brown hookbaits and I remember the recipe - ground halibut pellet, egg, soya flour, semolina, touch of salmon oil. Glugged in oyster sauce from the Asian supermarket. Caught absolute stacks lol I did a 12 egg mix of 10mm hookbaits 😂 about 8 left. 22/23 years old I believe 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I'm very near to retirement so replacing virtually all my kit but rods reels and pod with bite alarms gone to family.

3 sets of rods from 10ft to 13ft two sets of reels to match the set up!!
Got to be honest it was easier 20 years ago when I had one set for everything no difference in catch rate!! We get sucked in...but guess that's the passion

I can pass on what I use for my bushcraft n wild survival set up, Darkol if it helps you mate
Maxcatch triple zoom 11 to 13ft ,tele ,level line and Lillian knots to spliced tip.goes in side pocket of a Northern Ireland day pack ,Box of tiny,tiny course fishing flies,or a fladen tele 6ft long extended ..goes in top of rucksack,prefer the Tenkara for fun though,two floats ,bit of shot ,10 hooks to nylon ..
Leatherman side kick,n disgorger
Banshee 200 or Dpm.tarp...old camo tarp.used folded in half as groundsheet or footprint protector..
Thermarest venture SIM
Softie 9 snugpak sleeping bag or snugpak junglebag,I'm getting older so will probs ditch jungle bag ,nice to feel feet lol..
Water filter,
Mini trangia ,30mm meths..bit of food stashed round the day pack..
Gun...all fits in the Kombat UK clone,....gun is optional as I squirrel hunt for food sometimes..
