To be successful with a defamation case you need to be able to clearly demonstrate the comments have had a direct impact on a loss of income. How can he or anyone prove they have lost money directly because of a Facebook post saying he allegedly used a hormone as a bait..... it's the same argument as someone saying he did do it.... Neither have any proof.

A bait company had a lawyer send me threats after I wrote some stuff about their bait and their bait maker on Facebook.
It just ended with the lawyer giving me up after 5-6 emails and stopped replying.
The trick seem to be to ask a lot of questions, one at the time. Every reply the lawyer write cost the insulted party a lot of money.

People have blabbed though, Carp Chronicles have said they've even had people tell them that they've used it and even fishery owners that have suspected it's use. But as well as not naming people for obvious reasons (these threats of legal action), retrospectively it's impossible to prove any specific individual has used it - so any individual that has used it, can quite confidently deny all knowledge and threaten legal action against their accusers.
That's why the names thing is pointless, what matters is that it's out in the open now and hopefully it's use should vastly drop.

If those anglers have used said substance and caught on it, if they then stop using said substance, surely their catch rate will now drop, thus raising suspicion even further ??

They won't stop using it now. If it's easy to hide in your spod mix or freebies for instance.

Trouble with all these mugs who are supposed to have been using it, it has the potential to seriously damage genuine people's catches and that is way out of order, somebody thinks your a cheat when you are not

The more you think about it – the ramifications from the actions of just a handful I presume “Fish at all cost brigade” is scary!!!!
Who the hell is going to buy a Carp magazine anymore, when the contents have the potential of having zero credibility?
Who's going to take any notice of a sponsored angler promoting bait anymore?
I can unfortunately see all well known "Carp" anglers all being tarred with the same brush, even if they are 100% legit.
I hope the ones who have been doing these utterly stupid practices realise just what they have done.
Why the hell could they not just rely on good old Skill like most of us do, I won't ever dream of using a Baitboat, Deeper or stupid Drone as I don't want to cheat myself - it's me trying to outwit a wild creature on a level playing field of my choosing.
Now people using Hormones! Makes my ethics look rather trivial.
