They started yesterday on my local pits but I cannot believe the water temps are 18c.
Is there a chance that the eager males get a bit gay and start going for it? Or that they get involved with the bream having a go?
Or does nature find a way and carp will spawn when the temp is lower than 18c and we don't know it?

Some of the open water swimming places around are getting up to 16 degrees so will be warmer in shallow water... Quite often different year groups of carp will spawn together too, so that can lead to several different spawning times.
It's also down to the length of the light per day (photoperiod) and we have had lots of nice sunny days lately

It's definitely +18c in the margins of the lake I originally mentioned, and that's in 6ft of water.
Some much much bigger lakes locally, are now closed too.

Who's out this weekend? Looking good down here Friday and saturday. Bit of drizzle maybe when im packing up Sunday morning. Nearly time to start taking the Cadac!
I'm out now on a public lake lost 2 already hopefully get one before I pack up tomorrow at 12,been here since Tuesday afternoon

After losing 2 Wednesday I’ve finally managed to get first fish of the year in a 15.12 common not big but I’ve had the biggest out already at 27,but last day of session and happy pressure is off me now,my late mom would be happy I’ve caught knowing I’m doing something I love so much

Going to be a hot bank holiday weekend for some, 25 deg in Chesire Fri, Sun & mon, if they ain't spawned fully already bound to happen.

A problem for those wanting to catch, if you enjoy smelling the roses along the way not too shabby Ÿ˜€Ÿ‘Œ
If they haven't spawned or finished I reckon they almost certainly will as it's 25 deg for near a week, 28 here on Sunday, hotter down sarf.

Off to France Saturday and its going to be 30 degrees! But then, heavy downpours in the evening and the temps drop down to 25 throughout the week.

Thanks mate, cant beat a good old French downpour with a bit of thunder chucked in. Usually gets them feeding at this place as well.

Just got a notification that a local water is shut for spawning...it was bound to happen, good luck to them getting rid
