Seen a lot of social media posts from RH fisheries lately about their heated stock pond, with some fish putting on nearly 20lb in 6 months! Obviously this fish will be stocked into their various lakes but to me it doesn't sit right, a case of just because you can doesn't mean you should. I'm sure these fish will get huge but is that kind of weight gain healthy or sustainable? I personally don't think I'd feel a sense of achievement catching such fish

Supply and demand, pushing the boundaries of investment & business / fish breeding and carp strain genetic limitations to maximise growth.
Personally not my thing. Some people want to catch Tele-tubbie carp nowadays.
Same as the technology used in trout fisheries like Dever Springs and Avington in the 80's & 90's to present.

Exactly. I'd guess that there's so many noddies that want to catch 50's who stand zero chance of getting on any decent lakes with a stock of big fish, that this is the natural outcome. It'll save em' going to France to batter those fish.

So now carp fishing has become a sport for millionaires only. I'm rapidly getting to the point where I will have to walk away .This is getting ridiculous.

It's deffo not about the money, it's about providing anglers with a gap in the market and something “they” desperately want , for 3.5k! lol

I can see a lot of people walking away really ,fast .Angling or Carp angling is rapidly turning.into a massive cash cow,which at some point will crash,burn and implode
It's gone up it's own backside..
When you factor in you can't fish lovely previously accessiblr places due to apps, let's remember not everyone wants to use a goddam app.. ,It's being destroyed from within ..by us anglers, and greedy greedy money orientated people, who really don't understand angling it's history or ethos as a working class pastime ..
I always thought otters would ruinate it,seems I was incorrect ..
