I just noticed somebody selling the Jag RP1 in stainless on faceache and although I'm not in the market for a pod, I thought it looked much better than the black equivalent. So it made me wonder what the preference is of everyone, are you black or stainless? and is it just possible that stainless is making a bit of a comeback after the 'all black' trend of recent years?
I probably have a foot in both camps as some of you know but I must admit, walking round a few waters last year I did notice quite a bit of stainless bankware being used.
Is it just possible that stainless kit is making a bit of a resurgence?
Curious what you all think?

Stainless never went away! All my kit has been stainless for 25+ years.... The last black bankware I had was a KJB pod🤣 Since then I've had 3 Solar pods, single sticks, 2 and 3 rod bars and goal post set ups, all stainless.
I much prefer stainless/titanium/silver stuff than black
I have never bought into the black trend for rods, reels or bankware, it has always looked a bit cheap to me. I think this reflects my tackle journey - starting off with budget gear (graphite spools on reels, crappy ali bankware) and then progressing to ali spools on reels, stainless sticks, etc.

I prefer black, and have only ever had black bankware going all the way back to being a kid. The jag stuff is also lighter (and a bit cheaper) in black than steel. But no question that steel is more durable.

Stainless Jag Compact Pod for everything.
I've always considered stainless to be 'fishing indestructible'.
Black was always plastic or aluminium and not as tough. Although the KJB pod did look good (back then), I wonder how many would have lasted.
The number of black storm poles I have that have a nice bend and set in them from where Sky has pulled her lead as she's run out, yet stainless sticks just won't bend.

Hi,
Bought my KJB 3 rod S back in the late 80's and im still using it now, Ive tried stainless, and Titanium and didnt like them as much as my old trusty KJB, and i think it looks as good today as it did all those years ago when i paid £80.00 for it

I see a lot of black second hand bankware, sticks and so forth for sale which although purportedly has been used once or twice are scratched so badly that its tatty. I know I suffer a bit from OCD so it might just be me who thinks that way, but that's another reason I have always gone the route of stainless in addition to it being bomb proof.

My KJB is still in the rafters of the garage. I remember it being a bit wobbly!

Much much prefer the all black look I really don't like stainless but I understand others do, it's all really what you prefer mate really for me
Had black doesn't scratch ive had a lot of mine for a few years now and looks perfect still

Cheaper cygnet in black
More expensive jag in both pro lite grey and stainless excavators
Century Neville in black and stainless
I use all of them depending on circumstances.

Stainless looks great I can't deny that but it's just heavy for me , I'm always looking the lighten the gear down so I use fox alloy sticks or the majority of the time a quattro pod
