The wife pointed out to me this week that a local day ticket water was now charging £50 for 24 hours. I've never fished this place, but I'm fairly certain that the price was "normal" day ticket price until recently i.e. £25 or £30.
I realise the cost of living crisis is hitting everyone, but how can this increase be justified? The thing is, people will pay it, just like the rest of the hiked prices in carp fishing.

Can I ask what you think is acceptable for a 24 hour session?? I don't really fish day ticket waters anymore.
Is it all about the fish or is it about the location?
Would you pay more for group bookings (so you know everyone on the lake during your session)
Most waters are 30 quid for 24 hours or they were the last time I fished one

Still only £2 an hour
So really it ain't that bad

The Mere is it,crazy money but people will pay it because want that instant big pb.Millbrook at Wetley Rocks is expensive now too.I would rather catch a 20 from a beautiful picturesque low stock mere than a 30+ bluey from Millbrook

Never fished a day ticket water in 40 years , closest to it would of been two different weeks on Redmire a few years apart.
If you were lucky enough I guess you could find the right balance of fish, security and scenery, what you'd pay for all that is your choice.

i think baden Hall is putting its prices up to £40 for 24hr, im far from tight but I wouldn't pay that price...a load of mates and I have have booked sandhurst for a social,we do every year. we keep the numbers down to 12 or 13,we.could put as many on as the lake holds but them.numbers gives everyone a bit of room,that's 50 quid a night but that's our choice and an exclusive booking,all mates,bbq and a few beers 2nd night, no mither just relaxed amd a good social....that's worth £50 a night to me with the chance a good hit of fish,or a 40lber pb. but I would never pay 40 or 50 quid on a circuit water with all the hassle that goes with it

I pay £50 a night to go on a guesty on one water, but to me it's worth it, the fish go up to mid 50's and there might be one or two other anglers, I can't deal with all the rubbish that comes with busy commercial day tickets, too busy and no etiquette,

Sorry, forgot to mention what lake it was!!! It's Winterley near Crewe. Apparently, it's a pretty decent day ticket water, but no particularly massive fish in there, and £50/day.
I totally get people paying decent money for a lake exclusive with a group of mates in the UK. Probably a good cheap alternative to going to France. But £50 a day on a standard run of the mill day ticket water. It's just ridiculous. A lot of people rely solely on day ticket waters, and if that becomes the new norm, then where's it going to end. Club tickets £500 a year, syndicates £3k a year?

Winterley £50 quid,no way in hell will people pay that for there.Its never done a 30 and is full of bream,I think the new owner is in cloud cuckoo land.It used to have a membership scheme and you got money off each 24hr you did and could reserve pegs,I have fished it alot over the years but not a chance I would at that price

Sounds cheap, people pay 100per 24 in france, 200 in some other countries.

A few years ago I fished complex of small lakes that had just changed hands but it wasn't well known and I had the place to myself on the day I went.
The new owner was very keen to improve the business and had sought advice from a “professional angler” about this.
The advice was to stock one lake with large carp and then he could charge £50 a day. “ they will come” he was told.
Admittedly it was a reasonable spot out in the wilds but lakes were only 1/2 to 3/4 of an acre and the lake he was going to stock would realistically only be suitable for two “pegs” at most.
I believe the plan was also daylight hours only as security could have been an issue so not even 24 hours.
I might go back one day just out of interest to see if it happened. I won't be fishing the £50 lake though!
