I have 2 sets of rods that i used depending on venue, 10ft xtractors with shrink wrap and 12ft fox rods with cork handles, my question is what the best butt rests about so i dont have to keep changing which ones i have in my buzz bars depending on which rods im using...

New direction do a butt rest which has a rubber strap holding the rods, and a magnetic release system. I use them, they are decent . And you can buy 3 for less than the price of 1 solar one

I've been looking for exactly the same, if you're on a budget I came across item 141953102624 on ebay, only £2 each.

Now in a dilemma about cheap jack ones or the magnetic ND ones.

after JR stopped , have never seen any of his butt rests any where. luckily still have quite a few. they just work.

Having used the solar back rests for 15 years and now having a set of 2.5lb and 3.25 torrixs and recently adding to them the Jag rod locker I'd look no further and state that this combo is the best on the market expensive at £40 a rod worth it by no uncertain terms.

Def go Solar P1 backrests but forget the Jag rod locker . . .go one stage further and get a Neville ball peg whipped 150mm behind the reel stem . . .

Better still do both! Just make sure your pod / banksticks don't get pulled in . . .

I pretty much have the same rods as you, a set of ten foot Nash Scopes, and a couple of sets of 12ft Torrix, one cork handled and the other slim shrink wrap.

I use both the Jag Rod Lockers/Lockdowns and the Solar P1 adjustable's for all three sets of my rods and they are all perfect. The Solar P1's are lovely as the ears are adjusted via a small bolt underneath, and the rod lockers have a chord going over your rod which is released by pressing a button.

See below pictures - both incredible back rests and either would be suitable for you, that said if I'm locked up sat on my rods just off a snag, the Jags would be my personal back rest of choice.

I also have a pod which is physically anchored into the ground so all together I know nowt is going for a swim.
