I need a 1.5 or 2 man bivvy for France. This means it's going to come out of the bag once a year so I'm not looking to spend £1000 on a Trakker RS extravaganza.

Something like a Trakker Aquatexx EV 150 would be perfect although of course they don't do them any more.

Can I have your suggestions please? What's good and bad about the Quest bivvy's?

Whatever you pick I'd say get one with a sewn / zip in groundsheet / capsule to keep the critters / rodents at bay

Plenty of ventilation also does get hot out there.

Aqua M3 two man or duo.

With the super extended overwrap you can make it even bigger by zipping off the bivvy front and using the overwrap front.

Versatile and I've seen the latter duo go for £200 on eBay. The wrap is a bit of a unicorn but they do come up.

been using the trakker tempest ev 150 for the last 2 years now in france and its perfect! like you i only use it for france and got an amazing deal for it when the rs range came out , brilliant for france , you can pick these up at good prices 2nd hand and probably not used allot due to being a bigger bivvy, i wouldn't use anything else really , the speed and ease these things erect is a god send would never go back to a big pram hood style for france

I recently got the Trakker SLX150 V3 which i specifically purchased for my France trips. I used it for the first time for a week in March and it was spot on. It has an inner dome and I also got the overwrap, so essentially a triple skin. Plenty of room, solid build, good ventilation and warm. It's a pramhood so not silly expensive (who needs a trendy bivvy you can put up in 30 seconds when you are in France for a week). Highly recommend it, absolute steel at the price they are sold for aswell.

Have a look at tackle tavern they have some reasonable priced pre loved bivvies. I've never bought anything from them so i dont know what there service is like.

I've got one of these - bargain from Go Outdoors. Only used it a couple of times but it is big and brilliant.

Dont buy another bivvy, do this instead

I now use a Titan Hide XL camo pro for all my UK fishing, I have had an Armo MKII and the standard Titan.
I have been using a JRC Cocoon 2G Universal porch for the last 10 years, as an extension to my one man bivvy when fishing in France for the week.
This is absolutely perfect for me, and gives about a metre in extra room infront, its as wide as my Titan Hide and the best bit, its 6 foot tall, so you can stand up and change out of wet clothes etc.

I bought a Trakker Superdome a few years back for french trips, it's easy to put up, big, high, good ventilation and with the inner capsule is fully enclosed. Downside is that trip got cancelled and I'm yet to use it ?? (I will though)

Got a oz tent for my French trip’s expensive tho

I worked for go outdoors few years ago and I was the one who pushed for these to be sold in stores great Bivvy

Get yourself one of these, you'll never pee about with a bivvy again

In all seriousness, I have one and will use it if the opportunity arrives. Spending a week like a hermit in a bivvy when it's peeing down outside is no longer my idea of 'fun'.

Mixed reviews on tackle tavern.

I ordered a used NXC compact holdall and it turned up quick and was literally brand new well happy…. I later order a Solar Sleep system on pre loved and it never arrived no explanation just a refund!!!! And no apology nothing

I use the extension for overseas trips. Gives me the right amount of space needed as the XL mk2 or XD mk1 isn’t big enough on its own, for me anyway.

Last time I went to France (some time ago now) I took a two man Armo with Extended Wrap . . being honest I had loads of room but it rained most of the week and the height made it a depressing space. . .

Def think when I go again I'm going to take a Gazebo / Social shelter of some sort (together with an inflatable sofa I saw on a Polish carping site) . . .quite like the look of the Fox Air Frame inflatable jobbie . . .

I bought a Trakker Tempest 200 last year the wife and I spent a week in it .
Superb quality , easy to put up and take down . Well recommended.

Trakker SLX V3 was used for a few years. The inner mesh was a godsend for keeping out the mozzies and the cover was worth getting.

Nowadays, its the Tempest RS100 with mozzie mesh and social cap but thats big bucks.
