Just wondering if anyone has the NGT automatic water tap I've just bought one can't see anything in the instructions about how to know when it's charged theirs no light displaying when it's charging anyone have ideas

Been wanting to know that since I got mine. I just charge for a few hours after every session.

There is little red light.. but it's hidden.
Plug it in when it's dark and you can see it through the power button just..
Watch out the micro usb sockets not the strongest...prob due to me wiggling it to see if was charging lol...

Slightly off topic but I have the Trakker power tap . . . seemed a daft pressie request at the time but they're a godsend! Way better than the manual tap on my spankmonkey water carrier

I had one as a gift when they came out and I agree they are great. Obviously not an essential item, but I love mine and use it a lot.
The charging light is just about visible if its dark when its charging. But it is tricky to see when the trakker one is charging.

Holdcarp Smart Rechargeable Tap is the one i have, has a collapsible tap and 2 water flow settings

NGT looks to be from exactly the same factory as the Trakker one albeit cheaper obvs

Lol - I can sense the cynicism but don't knock it till you've tried it!
A full 5l water bottle is an arse to use when full especially if your only boiling a single cuppas worth at a time . . . if you drink the amount of tea I do it makes the process effortless and simple - and for the ease of tap attachment / actual faff involved it makes longer sessions more comfortable . . .
Bit like a power barrow - you don't need one at all but when you get one you'll never go back to pushing again!

You're not wrong. However a 5lt container is not going to last you long if doing a week in summer. I use the 15lt ridgemonkey ones ( x 2) only thing I would change is to have the mk2 version, as it's a p.i.t.a. to keep opening the top opening to let air in during use. Where I fish there is no drinking water on site.

I only use it to wash my hands and do my dishes and I waste a lot less water with it,

Its not really a carping bit of kit tho - its a camping bit of kit, so for 48hr+ sessions it just makes life easier / more comfortable . . . . if it makes you feel better I still use a bucket and pipe lagging to sh*t in . . .tried the wolf portaloo thing and its no better / more agg. These taps are actually useful; if you're too ashamed to buy one (as I was) put it on your xmas pressie list and give it a go . .

I have one of these ngt taps, makes life a lot easier on my 10L carrier for long sessions, well, at least it did - the bugger won't charge up now!

Is it old, battery knackered? It says battery isn't replaceable, sealed unit and for
£12.50 for a new one delivered, cheaper versions on Amazon/Temu etc, is it worth messing?

Back in the 80's I built one from a windscreen washer motor that I got out of the MT stores from work and just ran it off a 12v car battery.
But, like everything else, I eventually realised it was something else that I was taking with me that I did not need, its just as easy to tip a container up and pour water out and it was quicker and if the containers too heavy, just fill a smaller container.
The actuall downfall of it was a trip to France and I came back with a lot of those 5 Litre brown plastic containers you buy wine in from the big Supermarkets. Depending on how long I was fishing for would determine how many of them I needed and could just leave them in the car.
But, like everything else, I eventually realised it was something else that I was taking with me that I did not need, its just as easy to tip a container up and pour water out and it was quicker and if the containers too heavy, just fill a smaller container.

Now there's a memory, I'd forgotten about those
I woke up propped against a tree once, never did get back to my swim....that was after rescuing a friend who was veering away from his swim into a forest on the way back to it from a social

One year old and only used for a week in France. Not messed about with it, I've ordered a new one - they are a different design now.

Did you charge the old one every now and then, even if not in use? I tend to check most of my stored stuff every 3 months, batts seem to drain for the hell of it sometimes.
In any case, hope you get more use out of the new one

New replacement has arrived and seems much better then the original design, foldable spout, timed operation of 10s, 30s or continous and a proper charging indicator light.
My NGT tap lasted 2 days on the bank and once recharged the battery didnt last long enough to refill a kettle. Binned it.
I've had the trakker tap since they came out and had no issues with it. Battery life seems to be very good.
Had my NGT one for 3 years now very happy with it.
Like all things containing a rechargeable battery if you don’t charge them once in a while they give up the ghost.
A colleague bought one at the same time never bothered to cycle it once in a while and it didn’t make it to a second season
