Just looking at peoples thoughts on screw in bank sticks.
I have a couple of different versions and they both behave differently when trying to screw them into the ground.
I 'splashed out' on some Fox black label QR bank sticks but as they have quite a wide diameter they don't actually screw into the ground that well.
Just wondering if there are any other versions that screw in better?

Given I don't run either company, I couldn't tell you though JAG stuff holds it's value extremely well which might have something to do with it.
But I can say that both are known for quality products which last; you're better off spending as much as you can afford (within reason) as buy cheap = buy twice.

Keith's/Defiant products are ABSOLUTELY bomb proof, I'm actually ordering some of his sticks with the T-Locks on them as I struggle with the small knobs in the cold 😂😂😂 it's what comes of getting older 😂😂😂😂😂
I can't recommend his bankware highly enough, I'd be amazed if you ever heard anything negative about his products as they are built to last a lifetime.

They are not much price different to the Fox ones I have.
Do they have any aid (in the way the Fox bank sticks use a bar) to help screwing them into the ground or do you just use brute force?

I own both Jag and MPS gear. Jag stuff is a bit more tarty but you can't beat Keith's gear for no nonsense reliability. Also a bonus that he uses titanium, so both bomb proof and lightweight.

Screwing the auger point in is real easy, I've never had to use force, just keep on winding 😂😂😂

I use the Summit Tackle sticks as they have the narrowest Diameter I can find (D-Bit's). In theory should go into the ground easier than a wider one.

If you want to go cheaper a good option would be Cygnet Auger (on clearance sale at JRoss) with the Cygnet (now Trakker) Minimal Banksticks. They are slim like the Summits.
Used these together before - really lightweight kit and does the job.
You take the extendable top bit out of the Minimal Bankstick and put it in the Auger section, so your Auger becomes you bankstick.
I didn't compare side by side with the Summit, but they went in the ground about the same I would say.
Probably weaker, not as tarty looking, but lighter than more expensive gear.

Do they need another bank stick to slide into them or are they a complete item that you just attach a rod rest or bite indicator too?

I just use one of Keith's digging tools, they come with a t bar and will make a hole in any ground to put your normal alloy banksticks into . I fish on gravel pits with very stony ground and would be lost without it.
I'm not sure what Keith's digging tool is made from but it's still sharp and not worn after a couple of years, some of the cheaper banksticks soon go blunt and worn when used on stony ground.

Yep, you buy either the 12 or 16 mm version of that lil Excavator and then add the bankstick.
So you have to have the two, which becomes one if that makes sense.

I use the JAG xcavators and have never had a problem with hard ground. Expensive but built to last.
Found an amazing price for the Cygnet Auger & associated bank sticks at Total Fishing Tackle so bought 2 of those.

For years I used the "Fox Powerpoint Euro Bankstick" and they would screw into any hard bank and I would use them everywhere I went.
But then one day when we was having a "Get Together" one Winter, I noticed everyone had their sticks in the bank and rods set up on them and I was still screwing my sticks into the bank. When I tried pushing my sticks into the bank to speed things up, they would not go despite the ground being soft enough to push a normal stick into the bank.
That was the day that I discovered "Screw Pointed" banksticks are useless most of the time unless the ground is very hard and I stopped using them and went back to traditional sticks and if I cannot get them into the ground, just make a pilot hole.

Ive had a set of Kieths defiant mps for over 10 years and they are a great bit of kit,more durable than most others that i have seen on the market.

and it was most noticeable when I started fishing the Tidal Trent where the banks are made up with large rocks and soil you can wiggle around with a pointed 48" stick in between the rocks but it cant happen with a big screw bit on the bottom
and I have always carried one of Keith's original digging sticks in my holdall for other conditions

I still have and use my push in extendable bank sticks that I used as a teenager 40 years ago but also have some newer screw in bank sticks that I used more this this so wanted a couple of extra ones.
So the Cygnet Auger and Cygnet minimal CV bank sticks arrived today and the bank sticks don't fit inside the Auger.
Not sure what's going on everything I read said they were supposed to be compatible.

Post 15 - You take the extendable top bit of the bankstick out, and that goes into the auger. The whole bankstick as one won't go into the auger.

I made the mistake of buying a jag digging stick for making holes for a jag bank stick. I hadn't checked the size beforehand, it's like a tent peg.

Just had a reply from the shop and they have confirmed that some of the Cygnet bank sticks are coming up large and won't fit the auger is they are sending me 2 x more that they have tested and fit. Top service from Total Fishing Tackle!

A few years back I bought 6 Cygnet banksticks, within a week, the ends with the screwthread had broke off. They are only glued onto the stick, useless design.
I took them back to the shop and found I was not the first with the problem and had them replaced with JRC xlite sticks. They proved to be just as useless. When pushing them into very hard ground, the ends once again broke off on them. They were fitted on better by being threaded onto the stick. The only problem is, the wall of the stick is only about 1mm aluminium, where the screwthread is, it reduces the thickness of the wall to about 0.5mm, hence any lateral force pushing the stick into the ground will snap the end off.

I've had cygnet tbar banksticks for about 10yrs now. All still going. Only thing is when I had to be a mallet head at Thorney and smashed a grub screw off
Tbh, I wouldn't replace them with more cygnet sticks as it seems quality has gone downhill in recent years. Can't fault my that's though. Also have the snugs buzzbars which have done well.
