I am once again looking for a new shelter to replace my trusty old tempest air. ESP lo pro, aqua fast and light? I'm so out of touch with fishing tackle I've no idea what is good anymore.
1.Must be fast as possible with minimum effort.
2. Must be light.
Must be able to take the abuse of a lazy angler who doesn't look after anything.

Standard nylon 100 size tempest brolly would be my choice. Or if you want a bit more height for not much more weight a 100T has just gone up in the classifieds.

Jrc Compact Bloxx 2g Bivvy. Great bit of kit, well made, lightweight, quick to erect and comes with everything you need. Can be picked up far too cheap for what it is!!

I really don't like the standard nylon tempests I've seen on the bank. Well, I assume that's what the camo one is? I love the material of my tempest air.
Esp lo pro looks great for me, I just haven't seen one in the flesh or heard any reviews.

Didn't even know they did a camo one tbh. Mine is green and keeps the rain out, that is good enough for me!

Mines nylon in browny green. I wanted the taller 100t and that was only in Nylon for a long time. It was my first non aquatex or whatever they all call that grade of nylon.
Frankly I will stick to it in future for the weight saving

As much as I loved the simplicity of a brolly, having poles on the outside so you have an air-gap for a wrap or skull-cap is a must for me for any shelter.
If it were me, I'd go for the tempest brolly, and if you're fed up with stooping getting in and out of your brolly then look at the 100T, but if you're happy under a traditional brolly then the standard tempest brolly is a great option. The material's ok, and is lighter than aquatexx, but with lightness comes fragility. But with a wrap or skull cap condensation issues are all but eradicated.
Other than the others already mentioned - if you have deep pockets and have some flexibility around weight, then Aqua's Ultralite or one of the Pioneers perhaps ?
I still have my std tempest brolly for my club waters with smaller swims. Ive got a hide xl. Spacious inside and plenty of ease getting in and out without bending right down. Easy enough to get up but I find the fabric on the poles around the central boss can be a pain. Mines the earlier version so can't comment on the newer ones
Hide xl, incredibly stable, good height, spacious, goes up quickly enough.
I do struggle packing it down sometimes, but that is probably just me, others seem to have no probs.

And me, I can erect it, peg it down and get my gear in it quicker than I could with the supabrolly I bought it to replace.

I'm really liking the look.of the wychwood tactical compact, ticks all my boxes apart from it being nylon which is going to give condensation, I think for 200 quid it's value for money

I've just picked up a low pro mk2 second hand, hardly used with the mozzi mesh. Only done one night but I like it. It is low but I like the fact it doesn't need storm poles and dug out my old x-lite JRC pegs and it's a very lightweight set up. Ironically I carried my gear rather than using the barrow the other night for the first time in years.
I'm using an avid benchmark lite bedchair which is reasonably low and it tucks back nicely, would imagine one of the bedchairs with longer legs might be a squeeze. I'm 6ft and could still see out easily whilst sat on my bedchair.
Not sure it would be my choice once the weather turns, have a tempest 100 and all the fittings for that, but do love a brolly in the warmer months.

Yes and no. Lol
I had to order the kit that has the fixings and a pole.
Fitted that and it works fine. But one part still unattached.
Doesnt seem to make.any difference so far. And can't can't be seen

Aqua Ultralite 100 . . .have been using mine totally stripped back more recently (no skull cap / no infill / no gsheet) and its lighter than some brollies at 5kg. Solid in big winds and better coverage than a brolly without the restricting exposed internal brolly mech . . .

The first re-release Aqua Pio 100 was hobbit sized - this is the Aqua Pio Ultralite 100 which is 142cms - I'm 6'1" and its perfect for taller anglers. Without the infill you can set it up even higher with stormpoles at the front and/or drop it low and wide if the weather turns

I'm tempted, I've always been put off by the poles you need to put it up though. I'm a nightmare for losing things.

A lot of lads fish it (without the skull cap) and leave them in like a set of aerials precisely because they're like you! I keep them by my bed as self defence nun-chucks

The best quick erect shelter for 24-48 hrs I think is a Solar undercover Brolly. In the summer I'll use that in preference to my tempest T100.

I'm currently using a tempest air. I just leave it setup. I don't disassemble the poles. I just lay it over the barrow. Couple of bungees if you want to keep it neater
Quicker than any brolly.
