Best putty advice.

I'd like some putty that stays put

What do you recommend ❓

The one more cast or whatever it's called is very good

i 2nd that. it stays put and does not melt in my rig safe even at temperatures of 40°C

The Nash stuff is super sticky and stays put, the stuff from Sharp Tackle seems pretty good as well in the short time I've used it.

yeah OMC one is actually really good

Kryston Heavy Metal: I've used a fair few, Korda, ESP, TA (not the OMC though) and always go back to this. It's heavy and I don't seem to have any adhesive issues with it.

I was lucky that a bought 4 tubs of the original heavy metal before they changed it and still have 2 left.

I have also seen the OMC and its very similar so would go for that when i needed to buy more.

I've recently started using tungsten beads, nothing worse than retrieving a line to discover the putty has gone and the rig hasn't been fishing correctly. Using the nash ones and finding them to be ace, never have to worry now.

Dont buy the TA stuff- is too tacky.

I use tungsten beads, match anglers olivettes and I have some original Kryston Heavy Metal left, which has lasted years.

I recall reading, quite possibly on here, that when Dave Chilton sold Kryston, the new owner lost the formula for the Heavy Metal, so he had to go back and reformulate it for them.
Heavy Metal has been my choice for years, but I'm interested in something decent if I do have to change, although I'd much rather not put money towards Nash or Hamidi...

Got nash and Gardner (I think) and after a few casts found it can come straight off. Got some heavy metal that's over 10 years old and other than maybe sliding up the rig on the rare occasion I don't think it's ever fallen off even after a fight through weed beds

Bear in mind the weight.
I have some of the older Kyston Heavy Metal still in the tub unused, and compared it with some Korda Dark Matter Putty.
The Korda is definitely heavier.
Lighter the Putty, the better it will grip no doubt, but with the obvious tradeback.

Now that there are barrel swivels knocking about would the addition of them make a difference? Is the groove on the swivel body enough to allow the putty to grip better or is it just a gimmick?

Firstly I have found the OMC the best I've used - but without being too over dramatic, the way I see and used to use putty it's quite a big deal. I like many others have fished ineffectively for hours due to rubbish putty.

I use shot from USA and if I want it critically balanced will trim down pop up not add more putty.

If I want it just as a dropper (wafter bottom) I wrap lead wire with putty (omc) and if this moves and comes adrift the rig still fishes ok.

For me there isn't a single putty out there that I would use to solely balance a bait, there is a chance it will fail and I don't want to be fishing a 12” stiff combi zig!

Have you seen the ‘dog bone' sinkers, also from OMC? Shaped so that the putty grips, might suit your putty paranoia? I haven't used them but it's a simple and probably effective solution.

I pretty much use Ronnie rigs all the time now and instead of using putty cos im a complete duffer at putting it on, i use nash tungsten swivel knot beads.

The ESP ronnie clips and supplied tungsten beads are superb too

Never had a problem with Bank Tackle putty. Reasonably priced as well.
