Does anyone know which size Jag lockdown is needed for Terry Hearn rods ?

large - if you are asking about which rubber insert to use of the 6 supplied, I used the one thats right hand middle row

get the solar p1s save yourself the agro !

Ya don't bother I wouldn't buy again these inserts you have to buy a pk to use one so 15 on 3 rod will never be used as said solar or something similar be better

Agreed I was sold 2 packs for just to rods about 3/4 years ago and there was no need for me to have that many

The other thing is such a faff you have no way of telling which one fits putting insert round butt on its own doesn't work because when you put in lockdown it makes it a lot smaller

you faff around getting an insert on only to find it's to tight so take it off try another now to big they are a nightmare there just to make the set up look good

Reading these comments I must be one of the few that like my lockdowns. I agree its a bit of a mission to get the correct insert per rod but once done they look great and they hold whatever rod secure. The inserts are hardly expensive you get the fitting for your rod and bin the rest. (or do what i did and give them to someone that can use them).

Got both the solar p1's and 316 lockdowns and also prefer the lockdowns, they grip the butt much better than the p1's. Inserts are really cheap and once you have the size you need your sorted, throw the rest in the drawer. It took me 5 mins sat in on the sofa to find the correct size and been using the same ones for years with jag rod lockers. You dont need anything else.

Maybe it depends if you use different rods, if you always use the same ones I'm sure the jags are ok once u find the right fit

lockdowns are spot on, I agree on the wastage of the other inserts if you only have one set of rods....for me I have a set of torrix that use size 3,set of of 9ft rods that use size 4 and a set of the original fox horizon x 10ft 3lb, these are pencil thin and even with size 6 inserts there still not 100% locked but with the rod lockers they're going now where.
so I get good value for money out of each pack.

No you're not alone,I tried the solar ones and went back to the lockdowns

It's not as complex as people are making out. Measure the insert on the butt, fit it, try it. If it doesn't fit then just try the next size up. It took me all of 5 minutes to figure it the right one. Then fit the same size on the other two lockdowns. Job done. I use the same rods so never change them but surely if you use different sets of rods you just spend 15 minutes of your life finding the right ones for each rod and putting them in a labelled baggy or something so you know what's what?

Have used both the Lockdowns and the P1's and sacked them both and just use the ESP's (the mini ones, for abbreviated handles) which grip the rod far better than the other two and cost a lot less.

Disagree - I have both P1s (minis) and lockdowns on different Jag pods and the whilst the lockdowns do work they are a faff if swopping between rods of differing diameters; you need to d*ck about with multiple inserts (which when new can be an arse to insert properly) whereas with P1s its a simple alan key adjustment . . . plus they look better and don't chip

TBF the original John Roberts were arguably the best design; worked on every previous rod I've owned from abbreviated to jap to cork!

I only use one set of rods so lockdowns are better for me. Lick the ends and they literally take 1 second to push into the hole. Doesnt get any easier than that.

hopefully they are discharging me tomorrow as not sure what size I need they are for a set of Daiwa 3lb 10ft Vertice rods so need to measure the buts I am guessing small

I've got 2x mint prolite black (small) Gerry with all the inserts (also all black) that I'm no longer in need of . . .have been using with 10' CTX abbreviated so should be fine for your rods if interested
