I'm looking at purchasing a new pair, my current fortis wraps are beginning to look shabby they have been great. I wear them every day as I drive a lot for work and find they sharpen everything up even in the winter. Budget up yo £60 what would you recommend please

Up your budget and get some Oakleys. Money well spent. £60 won't get you anything decent, why compromise for the sake of what it costs to fill up an average sized car...

Check out the Oakley sale - I picked up a pair of Sliver XL in grey polarised for £57 a few weeks back. Sale is still on and includes some of the fishing specific models, although at £100 up.

Flying Fisherman - Calcutta. £35 and were rated very highly by some trout fishing magazine or other, possibly even top. Had a pair for years and they are very good. Spend to your budget, we're not all brewstered.

Currently i'm using ridgemonkey polaroids, very happy with it, 20 euro something. Prior to that i had ray ban for 200, pfff, not happy with it at all, sight average, durabilty hopeless. I'm sure there are better ones than the cheap ridgemonkeys, but for both driving and fishing i can not fault them.

I have a set of oakleys, and they are not as good as polaroids, as my fortis glasses. Nice glasses, dont get me wrong, but if they got lost, i wouldnt replace them

Go with a company that earns their living actually selling sunglasses.
Polaroid (the company) do very good lenses. The Mrs just bought some lovely crystal clear ones, dark lenses, green frames, for under 50 notes.

The glass lensed ridgemonkey are worth a look, I've ended up with 4 pairs as a few shops were clearing them really cheap. If you find them in your budget you wouldnt find much better.

I'm surprised you've had a problem with Ray Bans. I can't comment on the quality of the lenses, as mine are prescription, but I've had the frames for at least 15 years without problems. Maybe some designs are more robust than others.

Ray Bans and Oakleys are probably the most counterfeiters item ever, so be careful.
I'd imagine they provoke some quite extreme variations of opinion....

Counterfeit Oakleys are probably better than the genuine ones,I have had loads of pairs of them and the latest ones I have got are terrible.They are titanium framed and the build quality is shocking,it's the last pair I buy and will stick with IC Berlins for casual wear and Costa for fishing

Ive got polaroid ones. Still going strong after 5 or 6 years and I'm not gentle with my gear. Think they were about 25 quid online although I would doubt they are that cheap now.

Frame is still fine, but the amber hue comes off after, this i must admit, a couple of years of use and abuse. Bought it at a official dealer, so i guess it was genuine. Still really like their designs though, but for me it was not a 200 euro experience:P

I bought a pair of amber San Jose Flying Fisherman Sunglasses in 2019 according to my Amazon invoice looking at it and find them good to use and are as in as good condition today as when I bought them, Usually I have scratched etc the lens or bent the frames with sitting on them in about a year but these have stood the test of time so far . Usually though I use them for driving in more than fishing as I get crystal clear vision with excellent definition with no blurriness . But the only problem I have with them is, they are very comfortable to wear, but all of a sudden, they start to hurt behind the ears and become unwearable just like some face masks during lockdown did. One day I will get round to bending the arms to see if it makes a difference but they seem very rigid and frightened they might snap
They cost me £26.43 including postage and at the time bought them online from America as it was the cheapest option.
But my best glasses was my original Optix Commorants which I bought in the 80's but lost them and never been able to get another pair. i would jump at the chance of getting a new pair.

The old brown tinted Optix Cormorants were excellent. My wife ruined mine by insisting she put them in her bag, next to a nail file!!! She did buy me another pair for the next Xmas, but they had green lenses and wire frames, they weren't a patch on my old ones.

Genuine Oakleys with their Prizm Polarised Deep water lenses take some beating IMO, not cheap (especially if you have prescription lenses like I do) but the quality is second to none.

I got a pair of Optilabs sunglasses many years a go on the back of a recommendation on this forum from someone. They seem better than the cheaper pairs I've had before but couldn't comment on how they perform versus the premium models.

I'm currently using fortis switch which are ok
Last year I forgot them and had to use my old ray bans omg what a difference

Spot on mate and anything that gets worn, all the parts are available to buy on line. I scratched a lens last year and it was so easy to get a replacement. I have four pairs of flak 2.0 XLs with prizm polaroid lenses. Where them for general use and of course fishing. I have a pair of standard prizm lenses for driving though. Quality is superb. Comfort is excellent too. Lens quality, top notch. Very important to me as I do a lot of lure fishing from the boat and need to see as far as I can into the water...

I need a new pair of polorised over glasses, currently I'm thinking of the Fortis ones, as the selection of overglasses from different manufactures is pretty limited.

I've got a pair of the Fortis polaroids and they are really good. I've just ordered the brown overwraps as well as I want some to use with my glasses. Good price for good glasses.
