Does anyone happen to have any yellow 11mm or 15mm pop ups lying around that they're willing to part with? Sold out everywhere from what I can see.

Jason posted on FB a couple of weeks ago that he was stopping making the specials.
Hence all stock was quickly snapped up.

A well used business tactic. McDonald's use it all the time. It's business. The man is selling a product not doing his best mate a favour. Too many people fail to realise that Carp fishing is now a major industry and lives in the cutthroat world of economic hardship, which we find ourselves in today.

No not at all. They were a massively popular product, that caught stacks of fish and sold out very quickly when people knew they were being discontinued. Its not unreasonable to assume that in the future they might get re-issued. I know if it was my product, even if I couldnt make it myself, knowing theres already a market and demand then maybe id look to sell on the formula, or license it for someone else to produce.

Its got nothing to do with "knowing a lot about other peoples business". Its not like it hasnt happened before, when Mark Mackenna couldnt or didnt want to make T1 anymore, he sold it on to Bank Bug. When Bob Baker wasnt able to make Ritchworth anymore he sold it on to Mistral wasnt it? Jason sold on Sticky didnt he. The bait industry has form for it. Very good successful products dont often just die/fade away, other people take them on and run with them.

You need to chill out a bit. Fella. I dont think what I said was unreasonable was it?

My statement is valid. If it does not apply to you, then more power to your elbow. whatever direction you and your business is headed in, I wish you every success .

Decent reply that considering.

Ref the T1 and MM though, that **** ripped off a load of good people with his ***** at the end, not sure the two are comparable.

Yeah gotta agree it ended badly. But there's no doubting that the original bait was superb and was in high demand. I'm not sure which version Bank Bug bought though.

B Rex.....No it's not unreasonable now you have explained why you think like that, I understand why you (and others) would be cynical of a highly successful product being withdrawn. It is still disappointing to be tarred with the same brush as others that have been mentioned that have misled, lied and robbed their customers just to make an extra quid, but I suppose that's human nature.
There has also been one particular scum bag who is sponsored by another company that has been spreading a load of lies to anyone he meets on the bank, (I don't know why?) as to why I have withdrawn the "Specials". Unfortunately this individual started to spout a load of complete BS to a chap he met on the bank. The chap was a mate of mine! Who put him straight.......

For clarity.....The products have been withdrawn for a few reasons that all sort of came about at the same time........

Since I stopped producing my rolled bait (MPX) last year due to my bait roller closing his business, I have needed bait for my own angling and over the last few months I have been fortunate to receive a number of great offers from other bait companies and have agreed to join one of them. It is a company I have complete faith in....

Now.....If I am joining a company to use their products I obviously could not be selling my own! It would be a proper pi55 take! So to show my loyalty and commitment to them I volunteered to take the "Specials" off the market. It was just the right thing to do imo.
Around the same time, the company that distributed my products took the decision to only supply a handful of shops and move to more direct sales. This obviously shrunk my market considerably as well!

The cost of everything went up! Even the packaging went up by about 40p per pot and that rise when taking into consideration the distribution and shop mark ups.....You really are not making a lot! Yes I could whack the prices up, but I hate doing that and with the amount of hookbaits out there (despite many having NO track record) it all seemed like a lot of work for not much return. They are also a ball ache to make.

Lasty I have worked for 42 years now and that has paid off and thanks to that hard work, careful financial management (and George Osborn!) I now can afford to ease my foot off the peddle and concentrate on the hook side of the business which keeps me very busy.

Will the "Specials" reappear in the future? Who knows? But certainly not in a few months!
Maybe I will just go back to supplying them at cost to mates etc, some of whom would be lost without them.

Mark 1009....Yes no problem and thank you for your wishes!

I wasn't cynical about your reasons for withdrawing them. I guessed there was genuine reasons and I certainly didn't mean to imply your business practices were in line with the fiasco of the end of baitcraft. That was meant purely an example of a bait changing owners.

The company you are joining want their heads looking at if they don't take on the specials. As surely all of the issues you mentioned, production issues with losing your roller, packaging costs etc would instantly go away if they were to produce them. Same as the distribution issue.

I can't see any sound business reason that a bait company wouldn't want to take on a product that's well established and already well thought of. It's an absolute gift for them isn't it?

I see it like this. XYZ BAIT are proud to announce that JH has joined our team and we are excited to be collaborating with him to bring his Specials back to market using our in-house facilities.

I don't think you'd necessarily have to. Wouldn't be too difficult to supply them with mixed powders and liquid blends to roll. They wouldn't need to know what was in them
