this is a question that comes up a lot and there are lots of answers
going back to Dons of Edmonton way back in 1975
they bought out a Spring bow a strong flexible lightweight landing net combined with a stiff reliable 6ft handle we copied it using 2 top sections of 30lb test boat rods
I now see KORDA are releasing it again but at £250 !!! FFS ! it will need to be using as good a carbon as DYMAG nets are made off for that money

It almost looks as bad as there new kaizen rods. No way would i be parting with £250 for that. It looks like it costs £50.

Graeme owns the mandrel his handles are made on. He has used more than one company to make them.

Think Gerry was suggesting it needs to be of a similar quality, not that it was dymag. Either way, looks very similar to my matrix camo and twice the price.

yea the handle is important
BUT THE ARMS AND BLOCK ARE THE REAL IMPORTANT THING
there you need super lightweight and super rigidity with no drooping with just a wet net

like the Solar bowlock pile of shyte I bought a few years ago when it came out and sold on without even using it
and TRUST ME I am a huge Solar fan but boy did they drop the ball with that net ! I replaced it with a DYMAG Mk2 it was like comparing a 80`s Fiat Panda and the latest Porsche
but to be fair the early first bowlock was a good net though but that was different gravy

I have the mk3 dymag and side by side the korda net is just as good,I guess I will see once I use it on the bank if that is true

I love my Dymag MK3, however need to replace my old spare century net as it's seen better days, do you have any experience of the Terry H- ESP Reverse taper net, not seen one in the flesh so looking for some feedback??

I dont think any net will make me change from my chris brown net. Just watched a video on it and im not sure how the block is attached to the handle as theres no metal ferrule where block goes into the handle. It looks like it just goes straight into the carbon shaft. Surely thats not strong enough!

I've got the original lollipop dymag net, the mk11 and have most other or have had them, including the Chris brown and nothing IMO comes close to the dobbins net, it is a work of art and whilst I chop and change this is the leader of my pack,

I was under the impression that the Dobbins nets were built on standard Torrix net components with essentially just fancy whipping?

Would be interested if anyone has owned/handled all of the top end nets (Solar, Dymag, Chris Brown, ESP, Matrix and the new Korda) or is any single shop stocks them to allow a true side by side comparison?

I have handled the dymag mk3,korda,matrix and solar p1 bowloc and the dymag and korda are in a different league.I really didn't like the p1 at all,it was too floppy and not as easy to use as I thought it was going to be.The matrix is quite a nice net,well balanced with having a small spreader block but again not very rigid at all.I do like the matrix camo mesh though,I have that on my custom Harrison Aviator net

It might have Harrison arms but I think the pole is the same straight gauge carbon tube he makes the pods from.

I can see these being the most stolen item from the bank in 2023.

There will be tones of these hitting the second hand market soon, far easier to resell than some hand made net that had a limited run. Nets are probably the easiest thing for someone to target to steal.

So basically are we saying that your choice of net determines whether your a Noddy ?

Bespoke block, sturdy but light snooker cue handle spreader with hole for elevated retaining with supplied bankstick and adaptor, end spike, lovely sturdy and good but achievable bow oh and yes fancy whippings...

I love mine and have lots of different nets, not only does it look like a work of art - it has some functional extras that I believe are pretty good. Expensive but I do like a bit of custom and much of my stuff is about - bespoking or rarer items.

I have had all those and more to rebuild ,change whippings colour etc The dymag, and chris brown are head and shoulders above the others in terms of strength ,quality and durability.Harrison used to supply all the poles and arms for the early ones for both graeme and chris . The new Korda net is nothing like graemes nets it is a copy of the original dons of edmonton net . I have also just recieved 2 kaizan rods from a very well known angler who has been testing them All guides to be changed make of it what you will.

Kaizen rods only come in 50mm sets i believe ? they use seaguide guides as on lots of daiwa rods .He wants 40mm kigan set on them . Have to say the rod looks and feels nothing special but i will take it on the field and give it a fling before i change them.

I am fairly happy with my Bulldog MK2 but had always intended to get a Dymag prior to them being discontinued and since then have been toying with the Chris Brown. However with the Korda and ESP coming out I'm a bit torn.

I used to have an esp net that I really liked,really well made as most esp gear is.Having seen and held the korda net it really is well made and very rigid,I will use it on waters I don't want to leave my mk3 lay about at night

Dobbins Bobbins has designed a nice well thought out net with retaining pin spike and bankstick and the bag is quality he uses a fox camo mesh £300 all in which sounds expensive but in the grand scheme of things with other manufacturers they just offer a net and cloth/nylon bag at a near similar price point it is in my opinion a far better option you can have it personalized with his different decals or your own decals a custom build per say.

He does collaborations with various companies Sub, Monkey Climber etc...is inspired by Steve Neville stainless who sometimes helps him out with manufacturing or works on new designs, he does an awful lot for charity, now the only problem is he is run off his feet with orders which is all done in his spare time whilst holding down a full time job so ordering from his website is not going to happen just yet as having time to build stock is a bit of a way off, he originally built a batch of 30 or 40 nets and sold them on his Dobbins FB page in minutes, he did post the other day saying backlog is coming down and he should be able to open the order books in a few weeks.

Fantastic net, very rigid handle and arms, I did replace the deep mesh tho and seems even better landing fish, highly recommended

Just sold my Mk2 Dymag net for £300 its over 7 years old, prices definitely rising

No matter how good the korda net is I think the sticking point is its made by korda who are known for making leads and end tackle. It dosent have the cult status of a dymag.

I've seen and handled one now and it's a very nice bit of kit, so I'm now contemplating one as a spare, I'd love another Dymag MK3 but can't see that happening.

Have a look at Chiltern custom rods new mobile net, I bought one for my mobile set up, lovely bit of kit and well made

Using a pair of ESP Quickdraw nets for 6 months now and can't fault them.

Any more reviews on the korda net? Torn between the korda and a Chris brown

I rate the korda net, the deep mesh is good and bad,I used it last week as its designed to,pole in the ground, fish retained in the deep mesh whilst preparing the camera, that said when not being used in that way the deep mesh can be a pita. I will probably buy the shallower mesh for it. the pole floats with no need for a net float, the spreader block is top quality and to collapse the net is really easy....shop around and you'll get it for less than £200
expensive yes,but good quality product in my opinion.

I've got a couple ESP Hearn nets there spot on wouldn't change them.

Only thing I've found with the Korda net regarding its buoyancy, is that the whole net and pole will float. But if the handle is on the bank,sleepers and lower summer water levels. The net will sink.

Ive got both, korda is superb but mesh is way to deep for me. Fished a lake last week end and the margins were only a foot deep so couldnt use it. Ended up using my chris brown. The sooner korda bring out a shallow mesh the better then it will be perfect. I can nearly stand up in it and im 6ft 3. No idea why they made it that deep. Chris brown net is also superb but looks a bit industrial but will last forever and is a lot cheaper.
