Whats the best bait boat? Budget up to around £1300. Not bothered about echo sounders and gps, just want a good solid reliable boat. Cheers.

The anatec brushless looked good. The only thing that put me off was that the hopper looked very small.

You're probably going to get 100 different answers, but this boat should be on your shortlist, the SB3 Pro x lithium built by carp technics.
A dual hopper compact catamaran style boat with an amazing 8-hour changeable lithium-ion battery that lasts me a full week. 2.4 bandwidth, amazing range and manoeuvrability and hugely upgradeable with Tolson fish finders, autopilot and winch cam all of which can be supplied and fitted by carp technics.
Absolutely love mine and hopefully next year a winch cam and a TF740 will be fitted.
Really good support from carp technics and the basic boat fits your budget.

I cant agree more. I had the anatec catamaran brushless with lithium batteries and it was perfect. Sold it for a rt4 v4 as wanted raymarine etc but as far as boats go cant compare the 2. The anatec is miles better build quality and totally bomb proof and a bargain compared to the the rt4.
As for the hoppers are small. They carry up to 5kg of bait. How much bait do you want to put out at a time lol

My X Boat has been faultless, although you do hear the odd issue. Best feature is the hopper can be split into two so you can take two rods out at a time, or you can set it up at one large hopper.
ND2 is my first bait boat I am happy with it, no experience with other brands.

They just looked small in the photos compared to the boat so the boat must be pretty big. Yes 5kg is way more than enough capacity.

Another shout for the ND2 bait boat.... i have it with the speed kit and GPS/ Auot pilot function.
has worked perfect every time i have used it (up to 180 yards) can take 6kg no problem, and the controller is simple and easy to use.

Look at the deliverance I have had the standard boat for 10 years, never missed a beat . Hand made in England, excellent after sales for extras and services.

Just had a look at there website. The sb3 looks a much better size than the anatec and 6.5 hrs battery life over 2.5 for the anatec. Do they have brushless motors? British built as well 👍🏻

Another for the Carptechnics SB3 here too. Well built and nice and compact. I have only used mine for one 4 night session so far, but couldn't fault it. If you want something with massive bait capacity then it wouldn't suit, but it still carries a lot for its relative size and more than some boats that are much larger.

1.8kg capacity is more than enough for me. Think i have found my ideal boat. Going to go for the sb3 pro x. What are they like on bigger waters ploughing through the waves as i might use it in the lake district for a bit piking and it can get a bit choppy on there.

Don't want to curse mine but they are pretty unsinkable - really well balanced (with deep buoyant hulls) catamaran design - very light in comparison to other boats of its size. I've had a few different boats and was on the verge of buying an RT4 - bought a white SB3 with integrated TF740 instead and I've got zero complaints . . .

I've done half a dozen 4-5 day sessions this year for the first time in years. Single dad, kids, long story, but the SB3 Pro X I bought last year has been brilliant. One of the two lithium iron batteries lasted a full 4 or 5 days and still had plenty of juice left. Massive difference from my previous mk2 microcat. The SB3 ploughs solidly through the water and sits higher than the Microcat and the stainless hoppers don't touch the water which is great for bags. I really like it especially how compact it is and how much it can carry. Really responsive controls. You will be impressed.

Sorry to hijack the thread but How much is sb3 with autopilot and an integrated echo sounder they supply? In terms of echo sounder just one that shows a nice clear view of the lake bed don't need anything to fancy

The boat itself will set you back about £1,288 and the TF740 with integrated Eco/Auto Pilot is another £1,600 so you are looking at about £2,900 that way, but if you don't mind separate screens then go with the Tolson X Pilot and the basic TF300 for £829 which with the boat works out at about £2,100
If I were you and you didn't want to spend much on an Echo then just fit a bracket and use a Deeper.

Tried mine with a Chirp+ and range extender before I got the TF740 fitted and it was nothing but a faff - the only place you can fit it is the front as the rear has too much turbulence for a traditional Deeper bracket; even then the range isn't great and it would often lose signal at 100yds . . which became very frustrating!

Used a baitboat mods Infinity extender which worked brilliantly on my previous boat (with Chirp+) however def think the TF740 is an improvement over the Chirp+ for the following reasons -
1 - Range
2 - Consistent connectivity (never any drop out) This is one of the biggest pluses
3 - Speed of boot up and simplicity (ease of use)
4 - Integration (less bits / clutter)
5 - Autopilot!
Chirp+ def has a better sonar (narrower beam widths) per se and operates with a bigger (landscape) screen if you use a tablet but IMO this is a very marginal if any advantage in terms of actually finding spots and mapping a lake consistently. The TF740 will still handle shallow areas (1-2ft) and the detail is more than sufficient in understanding bottom makeup - the interface is also a doddle . . .yes you can use a deeper on rod and line / baiting spoon which makes it versatile but add in Autopilot (which when you use you will realise how you'd ever survived previously without it) for dedicated bait boat use without the aggro the Toslon is far superior!
