Anyone using this how waterproof is it ,will it keep dry in torrential constant rain ?

Ive got a pair, used them in france a month ago. Had 4 fish overnight in constant heavy rain and they kept me totally dry. They aren't quite goretex but they really arent far off
The sizes are a bit odd though. Definitely try them on if you can before you buy. Im 6'4, 16 stone and ended up in a medium. I could fit my 10 year old and myself inside a large

I've got the drenchware salopettes but never worn them in constant rain but looking for a jacket to go with them this is the obvious choose but will be outside with no cover walking the rivers so want something that won't let water in after a while.looked at the vass smock which looks like it would be very water proof but the rubberised finish makes me think it won't be breathable.

I've got the vass smock and it's as wet on the inside as the outside when it rains lol 😂

I have the Vass winter lined jacket and bib and I really rate it. 100% waterproof and I don't think I get too much condensation on the inside compared the ESP stuff I had before.
I had the ESP Drenchwear which wasn't very waterproof.
I then had the first ESP Super Grade which again didn't stay waterproof for very long. After an encounter with the some brambles water came through on the knees and lower legs.
I was tempted by the 25k but decided to go with the winter lined Vass, and so far I'm glad I did.

I had the the esp drenchwear jacket, wasn't even showerproof, trousers were the same, absolute rubbish.
I'm sure this newer stuff is a big improvement, but I would steer clear.

I have the winter lined Vass waterproofs. Excellent if you are stationary, I don't think you could have better water resistance, but I sweat like hell if move around in them. I'd compare them to the Skeetex boots, great value,no frills and probably the best you can get if you sit still all day!
Just check and it's the supergrade salopettes I've got , it's a waterproof shell I'm looking for that will be worn over a down jacket when cold but will be walking in it so needs to be breathable. Getting waterproof and breathable seems to be the problem ,I've got a goretex proshell motorbike suit which is totally waterproof and breathable but very expensive. People may not be aware but goretex comes in different grades with pro being the most waterproof and some brand name make light weight packable goretex jackets but they are not suitable for extreme weather use .

I've got a French army jacket which I got off ebay may be suitable for you. You will have to search as it was a while ago, and I can't remember where I got it from.

I dont think to be truely waterproof something can be truely breathable .... I walk miles in my job and tried many different waterproofs from expensive Goretex to the cheap and cheerful Fortress Air Flex .... And you will still sweat in all of them if active enough

The ESP sizing is all over the place and the styling is a matter of taste, personally I didn't like the jacket at all. Better to get the Fox 25k. I've been out in heavy rain for hours wearing the 25k Fox bib and jacket, not a drop got through. Very well made too. Some good deals on those right now.

Well there is. I have a Simms Pro Dry gortex jacket I use mainly in the boat, that is 100% waterproof and breathable. You have to spend a lot of money to get that kind of performance. Jacket was £600, but well worth it. Quality is off the scale. Have stood in the rain all day, never got wet and when walking in it, never had an issue with breathability.

True but I wear merino base as it wicks sweat away extremely well and doesn't retain it as it stays dry and odourless and I've worn lite weight T shirt and long John's under my goretex bike gear in high thirty degree heat on tours and heavy weight base with a down mid layer under the same suit when it below zero in the mountains in the morning. Layering is definitely the best way of regulating body temp but all layers have to be suitable for purpose, I've seen loads of mates on tour wear a decent wicking base layer but then wear jeans and a cotton mid layer but cotton is terrible for retaining moisture ..

I've got a tab shell jacket the was near four hundred ten plus years ago that is totally waterproof and breathable but again you need to wear the appropriate base and mid layers.
Simms prodry is currently on offer in a few places for £433,
