Just a doff of the hat really to Go Outdoors.
I popped into the Manchester branch opposite Royal Mills yesterday just to have a nosey about and I was shocked at the amount of carp gear they stock including brands like Trakker, Aqua, Sonik, Daiwa, Okuma, Mainline, Munch Baits and lots of others
I'm embarrassed to say but I picked up three 8ft Sonik Recons in 2.5lb and Go Outdoors did a price match on Ebay and undercut them by 10% so I got them for just over fifty quid each.
Really impressed.

I have been using them for years.
It is Fishing Tackle Republic that stock the fishing section.
A good few years back they did a special offer on Rod Hutchinson rods, it was buy one get two free. Friend of mine bought a set of them. I would have done but already had a set of them.

I was looking at the 9ft sceptre by RH £67, and then noticed that amazon were flogging the same rod for £49, so I could have picked that up for about £45 there.
I need to be banned from walking into places like that, they had a whole wall stuffed full of reels 😳

I used to be one of the main merchandisers for them travelled the country setting up their fishing departments,I wax the one who got the trakker slx in 1 nan and 2 man versions I was there from 2008 to 2010,since teaming up with fish republic they seem to have a better ranges in.

Theyve sold bargain gear for a while now, Like one person said its fishing republic that stock the gear which is part of go outdoors. They always have deals aswell like 15% off online so watch out for those.

When Covid hit they went into administration and got bought by JD sports which turned out to be a shrewd move as when we were allowed to go out everyone took up camping and they sold out of all their camping gear in 24 hours at a lot of branches and many folk also took up fishing.
A lot of folk rediscovered the great outdoors.

2019 Angling numbers in the UK had fallen to its lowest number according to the EA. Lots of fishing lakes, fishing rights had been lost due to falling numbers of folk fishing. If we are not lining the banks we have no voice.
The biggest fall was in juniors when we were allowed out lots of fathers got their kids into fishing.
My grandkids - 2 girls I took them fishing (10 &11 years old) when they were able to visit us & they absolutely loved it and I'm pleased to say they're still fishing.
If you think these “covidiots” are bad for angling think again....

When I was at go outdoors you'd always get the ‘summer only anglers' those who come in buy a couple of cheap rods and BBQ's and go fishing they only fish July & august you can sometimes spot them a mile off,everyone wants to be outdoors when weather is nice as well same where I work now I said to a few guys today who told me they been out fishing ‘are you going to fish all year through ‘ they say ‘yeah cos I will' I just laugh and joke with them and say ‘we will see'

Each to their own isn't it. Fish when ever you want and when you enjoy. No one has any more right to be on a lake than anyone else.

My statement was a bit tongue in cheek, but my feeling is that "covidiots" (like the phrase Jason 
) did increase bankside activity for the worse with their yellow tents and all. People taking their kids/grandkids doesn't reflect in this as this is obviously a good thing for the kids and the sport.
Also not really knocking Go Outdoors as I've bought loads of good fishing gear over the years.

I've used Go Outdoors/Fishing Republic a fair bit recently. They seem to have good prices on stuff now and then with their sales and also if you use Top Cashback you also get a good percentage back what you spend. Off the top of my head it's 11% on orders over £100

I loved my time at go outdoors met some great customers and loved helping people and travelling the country but the one I worked at was way too clicky with managers and some staff ,didn't like that side and some management thought they were above everyone else
