Just wondered how much bait you take for a week away.
Obviously I appreciate its stock and lake dependent but just interested what you all take?

In the summer I'd take 2kg per day not necessarily going to use it all but just In case.
Edit. Just realised this is a foreign venue thread. I was talking about fishing a week in the U.K.. Never fished abroad so can't comment on that. Sorry for my error.

As much as i can afford/fit
Have gone through 100kilo of boilie and 50kg of particle more than once. I can always bring home what i dont use but very rarely come back with anything especially on a water with a lot of fish or where you can use a boat

20-25kg normally. Buy 20kg each of particles and pellets at the lake and extra boilies if needed. I never bring any bait home.

At least 50kg of bait for me generally. Very few times i have come back with less.
Always go with a ample amount as i have been on a trip when it kicked right off on first night and stayed like that all week... was sticking in 10kg a day and was lucky a mate who was with us lent me another 20kg

Lot of rich people on here then, wait until you get to my age, you will be counting the number of boilies you take with you and that you can afford. Never ever taken more than 10 kgs for a trip to France in over 30 years and never used a baitboat, always preferred old school methods and too late now to change the way I fish! Unless venues restrict the amount of bait that anglers can use which personally I think is a good rule, each angler to their own method, not convinced that the rewards are worthwhile though if you bait excessively.

I'm going France Saturday and taking 30kg of Boilie 10kg pellet a slab of corn and 5kg pink salt plus liquids.

They certainly can be! My last france trip i had more than the other 4 on our trip combined. Once the fish turned up on me, i was able to basically keep them there for 3 days. You wont do that with 3 or 4 kilos a day

Spot on Dave. Baitboats and excessive baiting are essentially anti social and hugely expensive. Stick to rod craft and bait sensibly. He ducks .......

Not as expensive as going all the way to france and blanking because you haven't taken enough bait with you

So your saying if your not catching you still pile the bait in ???
Seems a waste to me

Take as much as is necessary, but be cautious about how you use it.

some waters you have to feed the crays and possion chats to create, (and please excuse the pun) a feeding frenzy, then carp move in

"Lot of rich people on here then"
Or, a lot of people aren't mugs who pay 12 quid a kilo for boilies and buy jars of particle.
There's that too.

Surely it depends on numerous factors? We've done well on some venues using very little, one owner even suggested our use of small amounts of bait was a factor in our high catch rate.
On another venue the owner's son poured bait in over the side of a boat for one on our party resulting in a massive catch to him (or was it to the owner's son?). That touches on the Anti-Social point someone made earlier. Not everyone can afford the massive bill that incurred, I don't go to France to get into a competition with my friends and wouldn't fish with someone again if they repeated that.
My advice would be to do as much research on the venue as possible – does it have poisson chat, nuisance fish, crayfish, approximately how many carp are stocked (if known). One venue had some huge bream in it, we ended up on double 20mm baits to deter them. The bailiff said we should have been on 35mm baits and that our 20mm free offerings would have been gone in minutes, in his opinion we had gone to light on bait.

3 x rods. 1kg per day 21kgs min plus top up from fish allow for 3kgs per rod per day min then there is always room to bring home. I always take more than that too and most often use it. Mainly boilie too
No different to how I fish for 24hours in UK 1kg per rod min . It all depends on lake stock and other fish species but that is how I do it as a base and it seems to work fine for me

Think that sums it up really. I've only run out of bait once but I had a thoroughly good week and put my feet up on the Friday, not such a bad thing really. To me its a fishing holiday not just a fishing trip.

IMO you can never know how much bait you will need until you know if there are fish in front of you.
The unfortunate thing with most French fisheries that are run commercially is that they are pressured and you often don't have a choice of swim due to amount of other anglers. I would treat it like going to linear fisheries but in France. Deal with the situation when you get there. Take plenty that you can take home if you don't use.
On the other hand if you are fishing rivers in France (this is all I really do now). Take plenty as you have so many roach, bream, chub and barbel to contend with
