First off, i´m cack with a throwing stick & have always been, despite trying 4-5 different types 
7 outta 10 boilies hit the spot but not the required distance at 150+ yds. I usually hit 120yds with a stick, and around 100yds with a normal boiliepult/catty, acurately. I end up using my spomb as a last resort.
I´ve now done some modifications to my pult, which is now, a sling trebeuchet, one-armed pult, and glad to say i´m now hitting 160+ yds accurately
Anyone else using or have tried/used one ? I´ve never heard or seen anyone else use one of these unconventional pults, or am i wrong ???

Picture this -->
No catty pouch, but an original slingshot leather made from an old leather shoe tongue. Oblong shaped with 2 holes at each end. 25cm length of 2mm tough string, both ends tied firmly with grinner knot through eath holee of the leather. The centre of the sting is then folded to form a loop, which is then lassoed onto one end of a 30cm length of solid round 8mm catty elastic. The other end is tied firmly to a 20cm length of 20mm aluminium tubing, using 10cm elastic band. An old bicycle handle rub grip is the glued onto the base of the aluminium tube, for perfect grip. The string bit is vital, since you´re not using 2 separate catty elastics.
If you´re right handed, then you usually hold the catty pouch inline with you left shoulder, but using this setup similar to a trebeuchet, your outstretched right hand holding the alu-pipe handle grip is inline with your left shoulder. Side stance with your right hip facing the target, then your left hand forms the arc behind your left shoulder, and fire away. The arc starts with your left hand holding the leather tongue, pulled down to about 10 oclock, and your right hand positioned at 2 oclock, aim and complete the arc motion with your right hand to follow through. Just letting go of the pouch, with your right hand facing upwards, like you normally do with a catty, doesn´t give you the distance.

I'd always used a Blackshadow slingshot for years on single boilies if I needed distances up to and around 100 yards in the past always stepped the boilie sizes up to 20mm for that range or 24mm for just a bit further, with the carbon sticks when they were coming out I went through a couple the best I found I could do was around 140 yards with the Bankside Carbon long range stick which is about the limitations of my casting ability anyway.
I rarely use either these days as the gulls are on them taking them out of the air at longer ranges so really only use a pult for short range so I can usually get a few pult fulls out before the Barry Island **** hawks are all over me, Spomb is a much better alternative for me nowadays when delivering bait at long range.

Trouble is increasing the size of boily may increase weight but also increases surface area and therefore wind resistance and I believe the laws of physics mean 140 ish is about the max and even then the bait needs to be hard enough not to split.

I agree totally. I'd love to fish these lakes where people can get away with putting 4/5 baits at range with a stick or pult without losing every one to a black headed gull!

This does all I need at range, clip up so it hits the clip above the area and it flip free spaying bait over the area, the higher above the area the bigger the spread and retrieval is easy as pulling back from the front of spod. This one is not a big spod and weight around four ounces three quarters full of 18mm boilie so casts nice with a 3.5tc carp rod.

Had something similar to that. Think it was an old Gardner one, but alot slimmer and longer.

MCF used to make a similar one with a metal frame connected to the spod.

I remember a carpworld article back in the late 80's early 90's where some continental anglers were using a large tripod type trebuchet to ball bait out at long distance , Anybody remember that ?

Yep I remember it, the tackle box used to do a sling that you used on a spod rod for casting out method balls. Remember a guy turning up on a syndicate I was on some years ago and he launched method balls the size of a big grapefruit out to the middle of the lake for an hour then spodded boilies over the top for another half hour. He only fished for the night and packed up mid morning and nothing was caught for over a week.

i´ve used the groundbait balls pouch, for get large balls out at range, using my spod rod, or a throwing spoon with 5ft handle, before the KORDA spods hit the market. Seen a guy using that throwing spoon, on one of the old VHS carp videos from back i the day, but can´t remember which one. Probably one of the Yateley Yahoo Crew, about 15years ago.

Is this the Alien spod? I have one and never thought of using it like the airbomb which I also have. Great for baiting to a tree line.

Take it easy first time out, or you´ll give the guy in the opposite swim, a shiner, 150yds away.
Tried almost every throwing stick on the market, got 7-8 different catapults, and 2 different spomb setups, and this one armed bandit is my go to, when 150+ yds are required, and it never fails me

I'm not taking the Michael. If this is as good as you say . patent it and sell it to korda or Mr hamidi to put a production version on the market. You could be on a good earner.
