Hi All,

Seems a lot a new about now. Can anyone recommend a good one? Believe it or not my Snakeskin has just run out which I've had since the 90's lol

Would second the ESP Tungsten Semi-Stiff hook link aswell. I use 20lb. I have the soft and stiff versions aswell but mainly use the semi-stiff
I'll be also having a play around with the Thinking Anglers Tungsten Coated hooklength in 25lb this year.

Esp tungsten loaded, soft for hooks size 8 and smaller with small baits and semi stiff for larger hooks and baits.

I use the soft and semi-stiff.

Another vote for Esp tungsten, best coated braid I've used brilliant stuff , use it for bottom bait fishing, booms for hinge rigs if fishing softer ground etc , wouldn't use anything else

Yet another vote for the ESP. Been using exclusively for a number of years and it has never let me down. Semi stiff is my go to for majority of my rigs

I am converted to ESP brilliant stuff. 👍

I went from the ESP stuff to the Nash Skin Link. Although the ESP coating is nice to work with I hated the stringy way it stripped. Also found it to break on some knots. The Nash coating is harder to strip but much tougher. The Nash stuff sinks better and the inner braid doesn't fray as easily.

I've used ESP since it came out and love it, but decided to try a spool of TA camsoft as it was cheap on eBay and I think it's brilliant, very similar to the esp but the inner braid is slightly better in my opinion, both brilliant and would use either happily 👍

I have been using Gardner Ultra skin in soft and stiff and its been the best stuff that I have used since the 80's. I did try the ESP loaded to see what the fuss was about and never found it better.

If you take a couple of foot of ultraskin and a couple of foot of ESP loaded, the ultraskin if I recall weighed heavier on my jewellers scales and sinks far faster, so so much for the blurb how the ESP loaded "Sinks heavily". But, it may do compared with a coated braid of the same diameter as Ultraskin is a bit thicker which makes it more heavier and pins down better on the bottom.

Yep , I love the Gardner ultra skin stiff , been using it for years now been superb , I use the PB products Jelly wire for more supple presentations which is also very good

Recently started using coated again and the semi stiff ESP stuff is brilliant, just as good is the Thinking anglers stuff too, both VERY similar

Used a lot over the years - ESP loaded, kryston mantis etc but always go back to the Atomic Jel-e-wyre. Brown 25lb version is great over most lake beds and is bullet proof.

Atomic jel E wire is my go to coated braid as well, and I've used a few over the years, never had any problems with it

Tried most best i have found is Gardner Ultra skin soft. Ordered the wrong one and ended up with the tungsten skin version. Not tried it yet but tied up a few rigs and it looks better then the original Ultra skin.

You won't go wrong with thinking anglers, they invented the tungsten coated braids, and there tungskin is still the heaviest by some margin! there camstiff is also excellent and not massively stiff either, its just stiffer than the really soft camsoft lol.

I used to uk the esp one but I've no regrets switching. I used pretty much solely thinking anglers bits now apart from lead clips and I pay for it all happily knowing I'm getting quality to be honest.

Used thinking anglers camsoft really good stuff nothing bad to say about it. But currently using katran kobra it is really interesting really soft and subtle knots really well when i steam it it is actually softer then camsoft. And i really like that but i will have more info at the end of the year.

Korda Ntrap, used it for years, never ever had it snap, used abroad and here, never let me down, never felt the need to change.....yet.

If you like a semi stiff hooklink, I'd recommend the bank tackle one which is a very good price too.

For soft links, fox and korda hooklink are both great.

For a real stiff hooklink I prefer the Gardner Ultra Stiff

What rigs do you use the ultra skin stiff for? Or is it more of a boom material? Wondering if its OK to use my regular rigs with it on a heli setup in fairly silty stringy weed venue. Thinking a stiff multi on a heli would work well
