I'm looking for a new head torch and I think I've narrowed it down to the Led Lenser mh6 or the fenix HL 32r. Anyone have any experience with these?

I had a led lenser and got rid,it was bulky and ate batteries.I have two Fenix and they are very well made,I have a rechargeable one and it lasts for ages.The other Fenix runs off two types of batteries a single aa or cr123a.There is a nitecore one that alot of people on here really rate

I have had a few from cheap Energizers to expensive Fenix which are all good but I find the best fishing one is the Nitecore, purely for the fact it is so small and light and can be worn round the neck while sleeping without noticing it, also has a red option and it's rechargeable

No you are pretty much spot on, but in it's defence the Nitecore is a tough plastic, it's tiny and lightweight and totally adequate for a fishing situation, if my life depended on it however I would chose the Fenix every time

Ah yes, it's the HL60R that I have , I couldn't remember which one it was
I've also remembered why I don't particularly like it for fishing, IIRC the red option isn't very bright, the white however is mental on full blast

It's dried out fine mate, I think it's probably rust on the connectors that's done it. Only myself to blame, not complaining.
Hopefully this Sunblesa jobby is decent, saves me a couple of quid.

Nitecore NU25 for general fiddling about in the hours of darkness, tying rigs, landing fish etc. Easy to use, red mode is great - and so light you don't know your wearing it . . .use this for 90% of session
Lenser HR7 (I have an older version) for casting in the pitch black, tracking baitboat at range, scaring coots on the far margin and generally pissing other anglers off by being silly bright. The ability to change from flood to a very focussed spot at range is useful . . .too uncomfortable to fall asleep with tho as the battery pack is on the back of your skull . .

Quick update on the SUNBLESA H11. It's not like the NU25, it IS the NU25. The case is slightly different, obviously from a different injection mould, apart from that identical. Same modes, same light, same power, same buttons, same everything. Cheaper packaging, different name on the strap, but the torch is the same... at half the price.
Win.

Hi there,
Can't comment on the Nitecore but Ive had the Sunblesa a while and love it, that said I've not put it in the washing machine, I have however left it on the roof of my Bivvy during some torrential rain and it's none the worse for it's dowsing.
I particularly like the red light with 2 levels, the green a is nice bonus although I can't say I've used it much and the two levels of white light seem good enough for most situations, the head band is comfortable and easily adjusted, all in all I like it.

I like my headtorch to come back on the brightness I switched it off at,its saves flicking through to find the perfect brightness

Also brought a cheap (£8) Supfire HL19, not played too much with it but charges via usb c has an output of 550 lumens, various light options including red/green and is incredible build quality for the money
Also has motion sensor on/off

You've probably sussed it but if the light setting you want is on for at least 3 seconds it will return to that the next time you turn it on. Turn it off before that 3 seconds has passed and it goes back to the start of the settings.

I have a couple of headtorches with that feature. Sometimes its great but when it starts going on or off unexpectedly because you moved your head or got too close to your bivvy door say - well it didn't take long to get cheesed off with it.

Thanks for this thread guys. Never been too interested in headtorches. Use light as little as possible. Hate being blinded by other anglers.
But as I've got older and wearing specs that mist up
The old petzls aren't cutting it.
See other anglers lighting up the treeline .and casting at.night
So fancied something that could do that and turn night into day when playing a fish.

With the glasses on. Which always steam up when u first put them on. Either in the winter or with the damp in the air
I've found a week torch is crap, it's just shining into me bins.
I like to be able to see the line etc. Basically my night vision is crap now.

but funny thing is I was always against rechargeable headtorches worried that it would run out
and so thinking one that took AAA batteries would be better as I could never be stuck
but the reality is I can use it for a long weekend and its never run out and as you dont use it during the day I can bung it in the car and charge it up via the fag lighter in the day or if the cars to far away charge it with my phones power pack so im never going to be stuck

The new nitecore ut27 can use aaa and has a battery pack inside. It looks very good but is quite a bit bigger than the nu25.

I have a Nitecore NU10. Brilliant for the money at under £30, three levels of brightness, red leds, and gets charged in the van on the way to work. I also have their now out of stock T360 utility light with a magnetic base. That goes on the bivvy table and shines across my knees for when I need to rebait at night. Prefer doing this instead of using a headtorch when flicking them onto margin spots, so I can maintain some form of night vision and not light up the whole swim.

I've got 3 nights in work out of it which to be fair isn't bad tbh...I charge it up in the truck,its not for fishing as such and won't be used for pro longed periods at a time..

I had the fox halo 350 and it was junk. Lasts an hour and after a few sessions the connection between light and battery failed.
Replaced it with a trakker night life 580 and couldn't be more happy with it. Extremely bright. Lasts forever and more importantly no separate battery making it a lot easier to carry/put on jumping out for a night run. Also has a dark mode etc

Using the nitecore right now. I have an island with a bay
Right infront of me. Its a tiny private lake in a London Borough so accuracy is important. Other anglers have their areas too . Pretty close .
However the island is only like 40 feet away. With the nitecore I can pretty much light up that bank for casting.

I have the Fenix HM65R which is rechargeable with a spare battery. Mental amount of lumens but I only use it in a low power mode. Personally I don't think you will go wrong with a Fenix.
