To be fair though Ken it looks very nice, the accommodation looks lovely and clean, modern, with every thing you need for a short stay. The ideal place to go if there are two couples with the blokes having a bit of fishing and the ladies going out doing some sightseeing, what's wrong with that?
Only 35 quid extra for a weeks fishing can't be bad either, 4 or 6 adults in October for 4 nights, sharing a ground floor apartment with a hot tub 680 quid, bargain!

Its 2021 ffs we aint in the 80s now and i agree it looks like a nice place to stay even if you dont fish its worth the money... fish somewhere else or pay it?

It seems Cornwall has been fighting a losing battle with the tourist industry for decades now. More and more of these lodge type venues are cropping up all over the place. Supply and demand I suppose.

Systematically and sure as night turns to day, the locals are being bullied out ..
Nearby,20 second homes being built,all sold off plan 750k each,planning granted..
My neighbour, born n bred 100 percent Cornish, wants to extend his garage,its on a farm,lots of land ,turned down because of phosphates?..its all part of the green agenda hidden by Covid..
Last month,Mr Davey,local farmer,died..4 days after his second vaccine, he died of a blood clot..now thing is this farmer owns most of the land round here,hiw wife is elderly, and the kids live up country somewhere they want the money,we fully expect our lovely village to turn into a developer's paradise..

Sorry to hear some of this but this is the in your face money agenda. The green agenda has nothing to do with this.
This government is going to open the floodgates on rural development and it won't be for the natives.

One side of my family,farmers...SIXTEEN generations at Trewold,they not allowed to build a small house for daughter/son in law,but the land next door earmarked for major holiday park,owned by friends of Cameron, who lives nearby..

I drove down there the other day to have a look, and what an absolute state. It looked like they were building an affordable housing estate. They are literally building a minature "up norf" on the edge of the lakes.

My idea of hell,or someone else's paradise..
There are several wannabe type Anglers paradise places round here now.. predict Simpsons will go the same way,especially now Andy has left..
Even Alder,is being earmarked for ecopods on the lake,and fishing stopped,this one is being ruined,Alder, under the guise of rewilding and the green agenda...

In reality, Andy, it looks bloody awful, a real blot on the landscape. Yes, the glossy brochure (website) gives you the impression that is is paradise on earth; the reality, in my eyes anyway, is quite the opposite.
Try to picture a lake where you have met some great friends, caught some righteous carp, enjoyed a fantastic site, spent many memorable evenings in great company talking about carp fishing and generally putting thwe world to rights, organised several Carp Society meetings attended by the great and the good of carp fishing...Now picture it trashed, the lakes turned into tourist traps with so-called 'chalets' built of string and sealing wax, as out of place as a turd at a wedding.

Lot of money in these Holiday venues.....myself and the missus have just booked a 3-night stay at Little Horseshoe lake in the Cotswolds, looks lovely, can fish from the decking for Carp up to 40lb whilst the missus does her hobby indoors, (Scrapbooking). 2 or 3 hours in the morning, same again in the evening bit of local sight-seeing and a couple of pub lunches in-between....perfect....not cheap but we look at it as a mini-break for both of us to unwind and relax.

I can absolutely sympathise with the yearning for unspoiled lakes / natural habitats. not everyone's green agenda is 'elitist'... I've many fond memories of my time in Cornwall in the surf and at the Minack and generally enjoying the beauty of the county.
with a realist head on, at least venues like this are maintaining the lake and angling in some shape. Better than the alternatives that Andy highlights with them being filled in for another supermarket / vanity train set
and if it's family friendly then that's a huge preference for some than being stuck on a lake with a dozen bivvied / boozed / doped up clowns in realtree...

Looks like a lovely set up and i'm sure plenty of anglers and families will get some great experiences from the place
Nothing stays the same so better to just accept and move on if its not your cup of tea. To compare it to how it was 30 dd years previously seems a little strange, the characters move on, ownership changes etc. Going to be disappointed if you thought the same atmosphere existed as it did all those years ago.

Northerners really do ruin everything, and judging from the replies from them on this post they have no idea theyre doing it. They wont stop untill every single lake in devon and cornwall looks like Trago Mills.

Ken is merely reminiscing about the good times spent there,friends made,and memories made forever,there is nothing wrong with that at all,most of the local carpers enjoyed many a good evening at Clawford,
We have lost a tremendous amount of formerly lovely place's here,and to be told,not just by yourself in the genre,of others saying move on,etc is just a little bit off in my humble opinion..
We know exactly what's happening down here not just about fishing lakes and ponds....

What puzzles me though wandle - if the Cornish people know exactly what is happening - why do they consistently elect the people who want the rich to continue to own everything and run everything and only ever do anything if it benefits their rich mates, or if they can make money out of it themselves? The Tories don't give a flying **** about the working classes or the environment in the slightest, but seem to have got themselves into a miraculous position where they can literally get away with anything, can lie about anything, do dodgy deals for their mates, break the ministerial code and face no sanctions whatsoever, and the large proportion of the population still think it's fine?? I'm not saying Labour or any of the others are covering themselves in glory (all of the opposition seem a little lost currently) but the right wing is steamrollering everything and it's a dangerous path we're on....

The honest answer is that around 59% of the UK voting population did not vote for the Conservatives, but due to the 'dilution' of votes to other parties and abstentions the Cons end up with the majority.

I've got to agree with you there my mother who is 79 has been brainwashed by the t.v. news and the Daily Mail. She believes everything she sees. I tell her not to watch the t.v. news . I call it lies for children.

Mark,I stopped watching the TV ages ago,...especially when my friend who works for this government as a PCR,tester,told me the tests are flawed and not accurate..I do not believe a word that this government says ,nor do I trust the British Medical association..
Remember,who stands to make lots of money through the vax,and also remember this government ,any government do care one iota whether you live or die,or thrive..
People need to wake up ASAP...!
