I'm in a very fortunate position to be able to directly compare old and new flavours. I can't tell you how I got them, but I actually have rod hutchinsons own personal flavours. I don't mean old stuff he sold, I mean his own stuff from his house.

Ive also got fresh flavours from catch it labs, cc Moore's, mainline, BAF to name a few.

To be honest with you, the hutchy stuff seems perfectly fine. I've used it in a couple of my baits, but definitely in the case of the nouvelle fizz, the fresh catch it is better than the old hutchy. IMHO.

So to be honest my conclusion is this fad for old flavours is horse ****.

I agree, I still own a few old nash ones, some very early mainline ones and a few richworth ones. I'm also purchasing new and direct from nash (long story but I have contacts 😂 and to be fair the new flavours smell better, taste better and Catch more fish. I do have an old richworth aniseed that is still quite potent but the bottle was hardly ever opened.
The new nash sting I have is exactly the same as from the 90s and it's mega. Save your money, do some research and buy fresh.
As a footnote I have never found one company who makes good versions of all types of flavours and I always need to trade with several flavour houses or companies

I totally agree. I was talking to a well-known custom hook bait manufacturer recently and he was indicating that the Nash palatants, now discontinued, were becoming seriously sought after, especially the strawberry one! He also told me that the Limited addition Hutchinson range, which came out in recent years was in many case at least as good as the originals.

I have a lovely strawberry from Nash that came last week. It is actually a combination of two different strawberries that they sold. And the peach Melba.........lovely stuff

From speaking to Paul at Catchit Labs it appears that they are all the same except the peach one which is on a pg base instead of oil.

Are you sure? I didn't think catchit Labs existed when the original supersense palatents were released, certainly Nash advertised them as being of American origin.

I suspect Nash moved over to catchit later and the products may have been good copies but exactly the same as the original, probably not.

I think it was Paul or his brother that used to work for Nash as a flavourist.

I remember reading that Catchit was setup by an ex-Nash employee and he took some of the recipes with him (that might well have been his to take). I don't use any Catchit products at the moment but I have in the past and they worked well for me, better than some of the 'big' names products.

It's amazing how additives/flavours/bait somehow improve and become the best thing since sliced bread the minute they are discontinued, some of which were largely neglected when they were readily available.

How much 'money' has been poured away over the years.
when we think it is past it's best use by date ( in our minds, back then ) and now it is worth.....
as much as £ cash flush/fools want to part with their money

Sting essential oil I have freshly made. I was told the flavour was actually just a blend of essential oils and I did have a bottle somewhere but I can't find it. This new sting is exactly the same as the little 20ml bottles nash sold 15 years or so ago (maybe less)

Shaun Harrison came up with the sting oil, he spoke about it on one of his interviews on our podcast.
It is definitely a blend of essential oils
I hope the peach didn't disappoint Keeperboy! That was a good one.

Scopex - caught my first 30 on baits flavoured with that - a 30 was a very special fish at that time... in fact, thinking back, scopex was a bloody tench magnet The original was a great flavour, that and choco malt. Kemp's pink zing was another one I caught a lot of fish with, Premier's peach was another good 'un. But best ever? Minamino, which Kryston mugged everyone off with under the label of Ambio - used get mine from Boots for a fraction of the cost! Massive edge that stuff (and still is... shhhh...)

Sting oil sold in the little bottles was defo the essential oil blend from Shaun. Before that the sting flavour was sold in old fashioned square bottles and it was a pale pink colour. The confusion comes from the two different bottles as one was sold as a flavour yet the other called sting oil. Both smelt similar. I will see if I can find the two different bottles. I rated them both highly. As for the peach.......it smells lovely and is the right colour that it was originally...:::....that's a good start

I was fishing at the weekend and an old friend came down to see me. He has a large number of old rod Hutchinson flavors, going right back to the Catchum days. I asked him to bring these down so that I could have a good smell of them in order to remind myself of the good old days. Almost without exception they smelled absolutely revolting, barely any resemblance of the old flavor. The best way of describing them would be is a combination of the old flavor mixed in with a large part of very old and very bad white wine! The only exception, for some reason, was Maple, which was still spot on....beautiful in fact. Heaven help anybody who is paying big money for this stuff!

I literally last week had a little old square Nash glass bottle of the sting essential oil get smashed. Had about half left in it. Kicked up a right stink as it was at the bottom of a big box

On a recent Korda podcast they had John Baker on and although he clearly stated that he wouldn't tell anybody how to spend their money he did ask them not to waste their money.
