Fingers crossed March we will be allowed to do nights again...
What's everyone's choice of tactics this spring ? I'm gonna go back to solid PVA bag fishing and zigs

Stay at home. Protect the NHS will be my tactics.
Each to their own though.

Lighten it up a bit
C19 or Brexit, can't we just pretend we're all adults, we all know and we don't need reminding all the time...oops, that didn't help

When I get to go (didn't happen last year).
Find them
Feed them a little bit
Catch them
(But probably blank)
But then I only fish days anyway so no point in pilling in 10kg of bait for an 8 hour session (IMO obviously others will disagree).

Funnily enough, I find no need what so ever to do nights in Spring - all day fishing and my approach centres on fishing just hook baits and zigs on the right waters. Location is probably the key thing to focus on. I certainly don't put much if any bait out, unless of course I'm on a runs water. Often catch my biggest carp in the Spring too.

Just fishing daytime (short sessions) over the past few weeks has been great. I really miss the overnighters tho as I loved the quiet and hoping I'll be able to have a few of those into the spring summer.
However, it's made me work harder on location. I've put more effort into making great bait and applying it with thought. And I've caught some crackers out of my local water.
I'm looking forward to getting back to some surface fishing and more stalking in the spring. My favourite kind of carping.

On the canal it will be 10/15 kilos of particles and massive pva bags dropped in the edges over the particles and it works for me,they come into the edges during the night or early hours of the morning works a treat.

To try and exercise twice a day 🤣

I really don't enjoy days only fishing I much prefer longer sessions infact I haven't bothered going fishing while it's been days only I don't do anything less than a 48hr these days, I do two 48hr sessions a month then every know and then I do much longer sessions upto 5 days and nights a couple times a year

Yep much the same, I enjoy getting away for a couple of nights and longer, seems a lot of faff digging the gear out for a few hours. I take my daughter fishing for day sessions from about May, but I don't fish I give her all my time to make her day good. I don't normally start the year until April, can't stand the long nights and short days.

Lol buddy.... made my day.
Quick question to every body.
Now since lockdown began last year in 2020 we had times that public lakes closes for a few weeks and then open. We now have to wait until the 15th of Feb when the president speaks to See if they will open tomthe public again Do you guys think that when the fish don't get fed as they would normaly that a lake has to be conditioned on boilies/pellets again since they then have to turn to natural food ? What's you guys take on this concept ?

Stert on my easy water to blow away the cobwebs before quickly moving on to my harder water. As for tactics, short rigs with long hairs.
Get all the DIY chores done ASAP, so i can get out fishing, that's my tactics, not telling the missus cos more unnecessary jobs will be found

Three different waters for three styles of angling.
Pond 1) Create my own spots in the edge with the help of a rake and baiting spoon, which I can trickle some bait in throughout the day and monitor. Come dusk, two rods get clipped up to a spot at range and given a dose of fermented maize (ideal in a time where every man and his dog are on fishmeals). The other rod gets flicked onto one of my prepped margin spots.
Pond 2) Two rods, fishing for bites within 20 yards of the bank, chucking small bags at showing fish
Pond 3) One rod, bag, net, with some homemade chops to drop onto fizzers in the edge. Ideal for those "just popping down the pond for a couple of hours, love" kind of scenarios.
It would bore me to tears doing the same thing year in year out on one pond.

No. Fish are fish. They will get straight on the bait as soon as you put it back in. However, I do think that busier venues will prob suffer (with not many being caught) due to the amount of pressure they will be under once fishing is re-opened again.

I agree, I used to fish a day ticket lake now and then,
it was closed for a long while then it was invite only,
I was there on my own most of the time, it was too easy,
quite a few times as I netted the fish another was in the net as well,
if I fished floaters I could bank 20 plus in an 8 hour session,
when it changed back after the last lockdown it started to get harder
I dont think it will be a problem.

My daughter turns 16 this year so after 6 years of no night fishing since splitting with the mother I now get to start doing weekends again. I am targeting a big Cheshire mere, it's not easy but there's good number of high 30's in there and there may even be a few scraper 40's this year.
Problem is it's full of weed, so using a deeper Chirp I have bought and a Fishspy that I already had I'm really going to map out a few swims, locate the holes in the weed, gaps between the weeds etc and use my distance sticks to get the measure of those spots.
3 spots, good bait, plenty of loose feed using a Midi Spomb a lot of water watching and hopefully my first fish from that water. Really looking forward to it and can't wait.
Good luck to everyone with their new years plans
Post issue edit: And will use a 'dark' bait this year to counter the army of swans and ducks which patrol the place like the gestapo

On my lake, I tend to look for shows and fish singles to the area(s) - it is a great tactic, on my lake at least. I do not put much bait in as the fish seem to move quite a bit in the spring. It works for me anyway.
