Looking at switching to a braided mainline from always using mono.
What braid do people suggest, what lb, leaders and any other info is greatly appreciated

Nash bullet for weedy waters / small to medium chucks / baitboat use. . .probably better out there now and if you need to switch for distance etc . . .

50lb powerpro straight through. I've been using it for nearly 20 years now - easily the best braid on the market.

Not into bait boats mate, nash bullet is a mono, great line but after a recommendations on a braided mainline

Bullet is also a braid under the Nash brand. Very expensive at around £70 for 500m. Probably 500% mark up on it, as the reality is only a handful of companies actually manufacture braids - the tackle companies just buy it from these and re-brand it, oh and charge the earth .

Great abrasion resistance, sinks well - tow rope basically for weedy waters. Casts like a pig tho . . .
50lb Power Pro is good strength for diameter and great for casting but like all braids of this type floats . . . .as previous depends what you want to switch for . . personally there's that many good monos these days I wouldn't bother . . .unless your floater fishing with it in which case its awesome!

I used to use 50lb power pro, but with a 20ft 18lb flouro leader. Made sure it was on the deck near the rig, and a bit safer if you had to pull for a break as the flouro would snap.
Pulled a fish out of Linear Manor back in the day that was towing about 50yds of braid that had balled up....

I prefer a bit of a shock absorber and have used a nash diffusion leader for quite a few years now ,the longer one , 1.5 m i have landed 30 lb plus river carp whilst it has been cut half way through on snags i have not seen any hook damage from fishing straight through braid when i fished it ,but i thought i was having a few too many hook pulls and as i fish for river carp , runs are not every day ! it's an eye opener how aggressive things feel when you fish straight through braid and hook a decent fish

Totally agree. I use my old Nick Buss 2.75 x-lites with 50lb power pro, and it is so much nicer!

I've still got reels spooled up with the old nash bullet braid. Wish they still made it.
I like 30lb powepro, don't need the extra 20lb.....(.isn't 50lb a bit excessive?) use this for fishing long range in in rugged conditions.
Gardner hydrolink's alright sinks and casts good. Rub putty over it to make it a bit heavier decent for short/mediumm range

I'm on the fox submerge braid in 55lb I think it was, floats like a mofo.
Will be changing it for next year.

I've got 3 spools with the Fox Submerge (ironic name, given it floats like a .....) & another 3 with the Korda Sub Braid (which although slightly discoloured after 1 season of use, is far better IMO & sinks like a brick)

Neutral braid - Power Pro 50lb (0.36)
Sinking braid - Hydro Sink 22lb (0.35)

Seconded. Used Sub-braid in 20lbs a lot over the past few years and cant rate it highly enough. The only negative is the colour fading.

Same here, great stuff, however can't find the 20 in stock hardly anywhere in the bulk spool, hope it's not been discontinued, was gutted last year when I couldn't get the nash stuff anymore, which was slightly better than the Korda,

Sufix 832 is one of the best braids available if you can get hold of it. About the only braid I've ever found that does it all, casts very well, sinks with a small degree of effort, keeps it colour and is strong for the stated diameters. Getting hold of it atm on the other hand is the hard bit

Many but not all. A lot of open access waters ban it because if used irresponsibly it can be a death trap.
Used safely its not an issue, and should in fact result in fewer lost fish or fish trailing line/tackle

Agree 832 is a very good casting braid, and has fantastic linear strength, but how they can market it as a sinking braid must be against the law 😂.... It hardly sinks at all,

Never had any grief getting it to sink at all. Takes more effort that the likes of bullet and sub braid, half boil a kettle and pour it over the spools half hour before the rods go out, drop tips to the lakebed and it sinks with minimal effort every time for me.

Throwing a bit of water over your spools whilst they are lent against your shelter having fresh bait / rigs tied on once a day or 2 isn't hard work really is it? If you regard that as hard work we probably arnt on the same wavelength. Sufix 832 is very good stuff, just ask Dave Lane.
