Any tips on its use please? Ive managed to fire two balls in the required way, and twenty at my feet. I dont know what I did correctly to get the two and what Im doing wrong to get the twenty.

Sorted. There's a real knack to it but very impressed. No longer smacking down spombs over the winter fish.

Years ago the Tackle Box used to do something similar. I never did get the hang of it. Got fed up making a complete arse of myself.

Aim higher than you would with a spod. It takes practice.
As someone else has said it's not a method I would use for the quiet stealthy application of bait. In the right circumstances it can be useful.
You need to get the correct consistency of bait to acheive distance and make sure all the balls are the same size and shape for any kind of accuracy.

. . .if you want to have more fun get a baiting spoon and put it on a landing net handle . . .I bought the original Cobra spoon back in the day and had hours of fun making a complete tool of myself trying to bait a swim at 50yds with a bucket of large balls of groundbait . . .

I found there isn't a quicker way to way to get a 20kg bucket of bait out 100yards, my accuracy was of half a football field though 😂

Your in the wrong sport, if you could manage 100yds or even half a football pitch, you should take up the shot put, even the top athletes are lucky to make just over 20 yards and the World record is just over 23 yards and that is with just a 14lb shot put, not 20kgs of boilles or particles etc in a bucket.
I'd have also thought that when your spinning up with the bucket to give it the "Big One" the handle would rip off the bucket and the bucket would flatten your bivvy and you going flying the opposite direction and land in the "Oggin".

Id like to move away from the slap of the spomb coming down, especially the smack when you just fall short of the clip. The spomb noise always precedes the sound of the lead and the line being pulled through the water. I believe my 30mm balls will seem less conspicuous than conventional means.

I have never used one personally but a friend of mine does regularly & he clips up at 4 wraps to stop the "sling" going out too far & just builds a rhythm up. He did say to me it took a fair bit of practise to figure out how much you needed to put in to the cast but he said to keep the drop the same & let go of the line at the same point of the cast each time.

Used this method a lot in France, could get balls out about 100 yards. Used vitalin to get a really hard mix with added particles and chops. Satsuma size balll seemed to be about right, made up in advance and left to dry out. If the mix is too sticky the baits will stick in the sling. Used a through action spod rod, didn't clip up as the sling just lost its energy once the ball was out of the sling.

Hi all, bringing this thread back to life.
Could people with experience of using this method advise if the original Vitalin is the key to binding the groundbait balls? Would be adding various particle and boilies to the mix as well.

Try using a binder like sensus pv1. Used it a lot when bream fishing and balli g groundbait in. Made up the groundbait balls night before and they never broke up. Had particle/corn/dead maggots all sorts in it.

Buy a sack of "Flaked Maize" its all I use, once soaked, left for a short while and kneaded it becomes very glutinous and you can get some good hard firm "Ground bait Balls".
It has been my "groundbait" used on its own or mixed with other ingredients since the 60's. Its very cheap for a large sack and takes flavours and oils well. I use it with either catapult or ball blaster and for speed to make the "Balls" use a Nash Deliverance Ball Maker.
