Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a lightweight compact rod pod please? Small as possible as I use 10ft rods mainly.

I had the avid lok down compact pod.
It went back to the shop, got my money back and bought myself a resolute compact pod from custom angling solutions.

Got to be a jag micro / nano pod very light and compact not cheap but brilliant bit of kit

Jag super compact is fantastic if you are willing to pay the cash. I have the 316 v2 adjustable and love it. Very light, packs away to almost nothing and can be used as either a pod or bank stick/buzz bar setup to cater for most conditions

That's because angling is a 2nd source of income to the company that own jag and they Are making bits for the NHS during the pandemic.
Hopefully they will get back to producing soon as I want to get a set of 2 plus 1

Fox Black Label, I use one with my 10' rods, nice and compact but will adjust out if need be. Saying that I have the Avid rods and the butt length and I think first eye are standard distances so still set up extended lol.

Custom Angling Solutions, great service, first class build quality and you can have stainless, aluminium or titanium Look them up on Facebook as the website is not kept up-to-date

For quality look at Defiant MPS but there will be a wait as it's all made the order.

I've had a modular pod for a liitle while now. Arrived 3 days after order, superb quality.

Production at Jag is being ramped up again. Expect to see stock levels increasing very soon. Some items such as safeliners are now in stock with some retailers and black bank sticks are also being dispatched.

New items are also being released, some of you may not have seen that new pack down stabilisers are now available, which use the new levers, and very nifty they are too. Also a new range of Adjustable buzzer barS which are styled to match the 2+1 bars have been released, again using the new locking levers.

Keep an eye on Jags social media pages for new up and coming products.

As far as the compacts and nano are concerned, there's been loads of threads on here in the last few months and Andy posted up some excellent pictures and really useful info. Well worth doing a search on here.

I've tried a few pods in the past year with fishing 10 foot rods myself the avid lok down was terribly made with no quality control or workmanship. The fox compact was a great pod except my 5500 reels wouldn't fit on without staggering them. The quest pod mk1 was nice but I had the same issue with my reels fitting. I am tempted to find some smaller reels but the 5500 do everything I need and I like them.

Currently using the Pro logic k1 low profile pod, it is quite wide but has been my favorite so far only downside I think is the connecting bar could be a bit longer or have an extension so you can get the 1st eye behind the alarm other than that it's been great and it's not cramped on the rear buzz bar

Another vote for Custom Angling Solutions gear. I treated myself to the modulus satellite/pod kit during lockdown and although it ain't cheap, it's excellent and breaks down small.

All you have to do is make sure the reel handles are pointing down, I have 3 shimano xtb 14000 baitrunners all side by side without a problem on the fox compact black label

How do you find out what pods they actually make? just vague photos on the website

Their Instagram page is your best bet - website not kept up to date.

Website is not up to date. Look for them on Facebook and you will see lots of examples, then message him and say what you want to do and he always gets back promptly with a solution

Don't have Facebook or any of the other ones. I'll give them a call I guess. How do the prices compare to defiant?

He has two main types of pod, the 'satellite system' which looks like this which you can fish in many ways or the 'Resolute' which looks like this and is just a pod. He can make them any size (and colour) you like in any rod number you want.

I have the Satellite system as I prefer single sticks but it gives me the option of a pod if I need it plus a couple of stage stands on the outer sticks if I am fishing a stage and need it rock solid for fishing locked up I also have the option of threads in the front bank sticks to take hangers etc....no need for hockey sticks and why doesn't everyone do this

Not 100% sure and also depends on the spec as its so customisable but I think they start about £250

£280 for the 3 rod satellite system with pod conversion bar I think. I got shorter 2 rod bars as well for front and back as well as the 3 rod bars, came to £330. It's a lot of money but it's really good kit.

Thumbs up for the Matrix Innovations Compact Patriot.

Very solid, might be a bit heavier than some of the carbon models about these days but love mine. £290 at JR.
