Hi All,

Like many of you I've read tonnes of carp fishing books, all the usual ones, Hearn, Lane, Maylin etc.

Would like to read Micky's books but not willing to shell out over £100 each for them!

Has anyone got any recommendations for other carp books that they particularly enjoyed?

I'm not interested in how to's or tactics, books that are more about the journey, off the radar massive effort, sort of stuff I what I enjoy. All the things I don't have the time to do in my own angling 😂

What does everyone recommend???

A Coming of Age by Stuart Harris or A Fool and His Eel by Mark Walsingham both very good books and about much more than just carp fishing. Highly recommend both

It's worth spending the money on these books, look after them and you'll at least get your money back when you've read them, possible even make a profit.

I really enjoyed Adam pennings - rolling in the deep .

I'm currently reading oz Holnes - forces of nature , this one has taking me by surprise a little to be honest . It's been really good . Great in depth detail on both conningbrook and burghfield .

Romancing the Carp by David Jones. Really well written with great tales of his time on Synah, Frensham and other waters.

Just finished Carping Mad by Mike Redfern. Read it non-stop and had a good laugh too. A Romp with Carp by Albert Romp and Fallen Kings by Dave Levy are also nice.

I enjoyed Adam Penning's book too. Only problem is the weight of it. I actually find many carp books are a bit like our quarry themselves......an obsession with size and weight.

I actually preferred the old maylin books etc which were a nice size for holding for an evening and actually reading!

Finally bought that one last month and really looked forward to reading it. Halfway through now and it doesn't really get to me. Is it a matter of taste, or do people also rank it highly for sentimental reasons?

Darrell Peck, my misspent youth, is my favourite book. Have read it over and over again. The effort he put into his fishing makes you feel like catching on your chosen water should be a doddle 👍
