It seems like on our syndicate the amount of bait going in at the moment is pretty mind blowing... and the lake is fishing slow.
For example, last week I went down to speak to a few people and they freely told me they had put in between 10 and 15 kilos boilies each over three days. This was just three guys and baring in mind there are probably only 50 to 60 carp present that seemed mad...
The lake has been busy so on average there has between 5 and 7 on most days even during the week so I dread to think how much bait is going in. To me they seem preoccupied on naturals at the moment and gone are they days when fishing over 5 kilos on there produced a few fish...
Is anyone else facing this situation?

If they're catching consistently there is no problem with qtys such as that imo.
If they're not then it's just reckless.

Even if that was 15kgs each over 3 days, that's less than a kg per carp (given your estimation of 50-60 carp), and carp can get through a hell of a lot of food in a day, let alone 3 days, naturals included.
Do you know the people you spoke to? Are they regulars? Have they had success putting this amount in before? If it's a tactic that's paid off before then we too are creatures of habit and they've probably decided to stick at it.
Has their been any visual confirmation that the carp are 'on it' can you see spots that have been baited, or areas fizzing, getting liners possibly? If so, and the carp are active, despite the naturals they will likely chow down on anglers bait too at some point.

Although it sound a lot, it really isn't. Carp are like dustbins when it comes to food and can get through a hell of a lot. A head of 60 decent size carp will quite happily munch on 15kg.

Same here, a lot busier than last year but fewer fish coming out. There will be an element of angling pressure affecting catch rates of course but it's been busy before and I've not noticed it so bad or so much bait going in as recently. Perhaps everyone is trying to use up their old boilies etc.
Ive done a few days and the surface fishing has been ok but there is very little coming off the bottom, yet I still see kilo after kilo being thrown in for no fish.
I think it has got to the point that there is so much bait around that chances are that a carp won't come across a hook bait let alone pick it up.
Talking to one of the regulars and he has the same opinion. Seems everyone has gone way over the top with their fishing / baiting, perhaps trying to make up for lost time.
As I've said before, a carp only needs to eat 1 to 3% of its body weight/ day to stay healthy and gain weight. It will each much more,10% perhaps but cannot usefully process much more than 3 % so the rest is waste.

Lakes quickly turn into a baiting frenzy...
Unless it's well stocked and the fish are actvely on it all they are doing is reducing the chances of a take.

How much is too much ?
When the X amount put in by X anglers is not being cleared up by carp, nuisance fish and bird life, and it turns mouldy, some will be trapped in weed, others pop to the surface, some margin spots may be furry

One guy did three days and three nights and blanked... he reckons he put in 30KG+
Some of the others had 3 between them over 4 days I think. So I'd hardly say the fish were 'having it'
It's probably because I've never been a big baiter I guess I was surprised.

How much bait is too much for a lake
Anybody who is putting more in than me
Anybody who is putting more in than me
Little and often approach turn waters over using 5 kilos pre baiting. 1/2 a kilo per day for a couple of weeks
I've been putting quiet a bit of bait in lately but that's only due to the fish coming out of spawn and trying to give them some quality bait too get back to normal.

Think this issue is probably ongoing for many waters, it seems regardless of conditions and fish behavior a set pattern of angling is undertaken by many and repeated, eventually it all comes together for someone and reinforces the concept.

I would make the most of this heavy baiting by others by fishing single high attract hookbaits only, stand out from the norm.

Bait application... Knowing when to give it ‘em and knowing when not to... Lots of factors involved...
