Something like this for the POD. Not sure there is a remote control for the phone though, may have to use self timer function on it mate

Amazon or Ebay you can get a tripod that will take phone or camera with a remote that switches between camera or phone operating systems for less than £15. Mine was £12.99 and has worked fine for 18 months. Loads of choice at different prices.

I just use a phone holder on a bank stick, and voice activated. You can crop and straighten any photos on your phone after you've popped the kipper back.

I have The back part of a Redundant bivvy station and a camera adaptor From my go pro and I have attached it to my portalite one of those cheap phone holders screws into that and that holds the phone
10 minutes mucking about getting it set up first time and then I just unscrew the knuckle part and put that Back in the barrow
4ft from the phone and job done
Same can be done with a couple of 15 mm copper pipe clips and a bank stick with a bank stick adaptor

My pal has a generic phone tripod from eBay, that's works a treat for him. It's cheap and light weight and comes with a phone holder.
If you want something with a bit more quality, manfrotto do a folding phone holder which will mount to any standard tripod boss or bank stock adapter.
Manfrotto and Joby also make very good tripods, although Jobys tend to be fairly short

No need for remotes nowdays, grab Whistle Camera Pro or just the free version for your Android phone. Works a treat. All you have to do is whistle and it takes a snap. I tend just to use the video function instead as I like it better as a format.

Photo Timer + is a good app for iPhone. You can set the initial count down, number of shots and time between shots. Works really well.

10 seconds before first shot
3 second gap
12 shots total.
Used it Friday evening and got decent pics of both sides of the fish in one round 👍🏼

I'm looking for something small and lightweight for one of those 96 LED camera light things.
When people talk about cheap tripods off ebay do they mean something like

Left it in my basket for a day and got a 5% discount come through on Ebay messages.
Wasn't expecting much but have to say it's very well made, how the Chinese can make it for that price is beyond me
Personally I'd prefer a metal mount plate but for the price....
I've bought a mount for it too for a fiver, going to be used with a tablet but a lot are generic and can be used for phones too.

Yunteng VCT-1688 is what i bought the other day off a recomendation on here can fault it for the money to be honest.
Although most of these things are mass produced in china , and isnt everyone boycotting chinese products?? Or was that last week ??

A normal camera thread. I was thinking of a bankstick but if the ground is tough I thought a cheap tripod might be easier.
While I've got you I'll pick your brains. Do you use a flash as well as the light or the light only.

I'd use a flash personally, the LEDs aren't very powerful. More useful for focussing than for lighting
I wouldn't use a phone tho, the quality falls apart quickly in low light.
The cheap tripod would be fine for what you want, just find a way of attaching a bucket to it to weight it down in wind

As per post 13 'whistle camera' and as per post 8 a phone holder that screws into a bankstick, cost me about 2 quid!
As a back up i have a bluetooth remote, which i got for a couple of quid from china.
just remember to set the delay from the whistle otherwise like one of my mates, all your photos look like you're blowing a kiss or worse!!!

one of the funniest things I have seen ........... a mate of mine has a Samsung S7 and its got the voice control app already built in I use it all the time you can just shout cheese ,smile or capture to take pictures or shoot to record video

I have the SelfieFish one from ebay, seller's name is jim350i. Haven't had to use it on the bank yet but quality of build seems good and messing about with it in the house looks good. Very adjustable etc and would also double up as a phone holder for a deeper or other sonar.
Handles phones up to 85mm so would be OK for your phone.
