Hi Guys,
Was meant to be going down to linear on the 9th July to fish B1 or B2 but its still rammed so looking at alternatives. Came across bluebell lakes which looks like a decent venue and from what ive read Mallard looks like it could be good for a few bites.
Has anyone fished this lake and how would it compare to B1 + B2 apprently there is a couple of thousand fish in it from what im told with the smallest ones being around 18lb up 50lb.

To put it bluntly its a circus.... no swim booking (i think it's in the pipeline) crazy busy with very limited swim choice.
Holds some amazing fish but not my cup of tea nowadays.

Is swim booking now a desirable thing? Maybe it is time to give my carp fishing gear an honourable funeral pyre and give up angling. Buy some carp catching tech, beer, barbecue, bait boat, drone regular order of 250kg of bait every week and start catching.

Too much bait going in? Or run off from local fields fertiliser? Never been there but something caused it.Anyone know?

Love the fishery after discovering it last April, has sounded like carnage up there since lockdown restrictions lifted tho. Won't be going back this year because of it. From what I have heard yes because too much bait in the water and closed about a 3rd of the pegs on the other lakes to. Anglers have been asked to be sensible with amount of bait they are putting in and bait boats have been banned for the foreseeable future. Have also heard spombing is banned but don't know if that's true. Shame cos it is a beautiful place.

I know the complex quite well having fished it once or twice a year for the past 15/20 years or so. For starters, it pisses on Linear, especially now most of the imports have died off. It's a much prettier place imo, and the fish are proper. Mallard is indeed good for a lot of bites, but the smallest being 18 lb is WAY off the mark. There's loads of little'n's in there. Last time I fished it (due to the big fish waters spawning) I had 7 singles on the trot lol, not what you want for 30 quid a night. But there are plenty of bigger fish too.
I've not been this year as since lock down it sounds awful. One-in-one-out. It's true that mallard is closed, too much bait piled in by anglers that are unable to determine whether there's carp feeding in front of them or not. They've also shut swims on Kingy and Swan in an attempt to limit this. Bait boats have been banned, again to stop the bait going in, but spods are still allowed (
).
The baiting problems have been an issue for years. Lots of sour spots/rotting bait on the big fish waters. Unless you're Kev Hewitt small amounts of bait seems to be the one nowadays.
I'll not be visiting this year. It sounds awful. All the day ticket places do.

Thinking of going down soon for a 4-5 day session, never been before i know it is very very busy but will be arriving sunday / monday so im sure i will be able to get on one of the lakes..
Are the lakes weedy at the minute, do most pegs have some clear spots? Which lake would you recommend for a good chance of a fish or 2?

Some anglers are quick to forget and some don't seem to care about uk bred fish and fisheries. Just because most of the wrong'uns are gone don't make it right in my opinion. It's still a wrong'un...

Yes mate I've seen the some of the fish from the complex but it just doesn't sit right for me. Maybe I'm just to old lol

Going down tomorrow for the first time wondered how it's fishing and which lakes are producing fish..

done about 6 sessions in last 2 months down there. Mallard fishing really well, blue bell decent for a quick bite. not done kingfisher but some big fish been coming out there. Swan as always really slow. Did a 4 day session there didnt even get a liner lol
Imo Mallard the place to be at the moment. Few over 40s(lake record being 49), lots of 30s,20s etc. Very weedy but clear spots to be found.
Keep the bait to a minimum and hookbait bright and you should be fine. Try get down riverside. Shallows this time of year very good. Fished shallows last week on a short session had a 21 and 17lb double take and lost what felt like an excellent fish. Guy next to me spent the week and had a 14 fish haul.

Yeah I am on here now it's rammed, had to jump on mallard as there were not many pegs free on other lakes..
I'm fishing the riverside maybe half way down as there was plenty of fish showing in front of me, few clear spots out there too so hope for a bite.

Shallows is for about 30/40 yards between 2/3ft deep. Doesn't stop the fish coming right up to your rods though.
Wading out placing bait on clear spot is highly recommended
