I'm beginning to think liquids could be the biggest marketing con ever !
I'm tending to agree with you on that, included in the boilie mix maybe but adding it to the likes of SLK. S7 etc is probably a pointless waste of money, might as well just add some vegetable/hemp oil IMO
I blame Mark Holmes

You can order a sample pack and they will send every boilie they do for only a couple of pounds I've used s7 in the past found that to have some good results

I'm currently using their bait in shelf-life form, I mix the S7 & SLK together 12mm, soft with a good texture & colour.
Done me proud so far, use with confidence I'd say.

I did message dna and they suggested s7 as more of a all rounder may order the 5kg deal with liquid etc

I've used the S7 for the last 6-7 years maybe, I've tried all the other baits but always go back to the S7. Only time I change bait is through the warmer months to the SLK sort of June-September then I go back to the S7
Been on the shelflife baits since they came out a few years ago and haven't noticed any difference in catch rates. Them bring out the shelflife baits coincided with me losing freezer access so was convenient for me. I have a freezer now but only use that for particle as I'm happy with the shelflife baits so going to keep using them

Definitely S7 if you're only buying 5kg

SLK for me in the mild and warmer months. Done well on it for 5 years. Only downside is that I catch a fair few bream.
I have a winter bait I stick with and have no experience of SLK in colder months except for doing well on it in France at the end of March a few years ago.

Do you use any of the slk liquids or are you happy to use it straight from the bag? I've just ordered by first lot of slk and s7.
I bought nutta as my spring bait but never used it due to covid shut down.

SLK and S7 will catch straight from the bag , no liquids are required , despite me seeing lots of FB posts of lads soaking and preparing their boilie , they really don't need it in my opinion , (put a couple in a glass of water overnight and see !)if you do want to go down that route though the SLK liquid food really is special stuff

Straight from the bag for me also, I know anglers have their things they like to do or add but when buying bait you expect it to work and work well as is IMO.

Another vote for S7 from me, really happy with it. I would also recommend buying the slightly bigger bundles as the 10kg and especially the 20kg ones are amazing value.

I have my special booster that I have developed over the years and then finish them off with Krill powder mixed with some liver powder. I use this on any fishmeal, not just SLK, it's just a personal thing

S7 is changing though as they are dropping the robin red out of it due to bans on food dyes. May or may not make a difference. Switch is a good bait and worth looking at for an all year round option.

Its already changed mate the last batch i got look diffrent color to the batch i got 2 weeks ago and there was a letter in with the pacage i got off them saying about the dye in robin red

It is only the type of robin red that has changed in S7, it has not been dropped. It now contains an EU approved version which gives it a slightly less vibrant red colour and washes out quicker due to it being more water soluble. We have sent a letter out with every single S7 order since the change to make sure customers are aware and believe me there has been tonnes of it go out every week since without complaint. It certainly hasn't stopped the catch reports still flooding in. I just thought i would clear things up in case the wrong information became gospel as Chinese whispers tend to end up. Hope everybody is saying safe and well and managing to get a swim out there!

Hi Jason, My mistake, thanks for clarifying. Personally I think it's a shame that it's had to change and I'm sure you'd rather it didn't also but rules is rules I guess. I read your statement (badly as it turns out!) and inferred that the RR was being replaced with a red dye, not that the dye in RR was being changed. A small but important difference! DNA make great bait as I said in my post which I'm sure will continue to be the case. So the new RR is basically the Kingfisher Red that Haiths supply if I now understand correctly?

Done really well on the new S7 and i actually prefer the less vibrant colouration. Soaked in Betastim they darken up further and look lovely.
I trust Jase's bait wholeheartedly. Whatever you buy from DNA you can be sure it will be put together by someone that knows what they are doing and it will catch fish. I wouldnt use anything else.

You can still buy the original from Haiths as long as you tell them it's for hookbaits. You can buy 20kg so it's still a lot for the home roller in their own basemix.

Couldn't agree more that S7 does not improve with liquids, in fact I've put both in the margins and watched fish feed over both no difference whatsoever in the attraction of those with added liquids. Adding liquids will only cost you money and not improve the attraction of the boilie at all, of course you will still catch with added liquids but it's not necessary in the least.
If even added the liquids (hydro fish and wheat) to the margins by themselves and nothing , put some bait over the top and bingo fish in the swim.
I'm beginning to think liquids could be the biggest marketing con ever !

There's always 1 but I have to completely disagree regards the S7 liquid food. I've been using S7 it since it came out, it's great straight out of the bag but glugging it really does add to the bait imo.. My hook baits are soaked in the S7 liquid food, most for at least 12 months before use and they do outfish a standard S7 boilie ime, but that would be very hard to quantify.

I don't agree, not really sure I can even see the theory. Atrraction is the ability to attract, a dryer than soaked boilie will take on water before being at it's best leaking attractors into the water, a pre soaked boilie has more attractor to leak and does it straght away.
We are all the sum of our experiences and sometimes we have to disagree

SLK to me seems a slightly softer bait than S7 [ 12mm shelf-life ] anyone found similar?

Agreed, until my latest trip I found that I had a lot more success on SLK than S7, but this time 9 of the 10 carp were caught on S7 and none on glugged baits! I also tried some freezer baits adding a small amount of the relevant spod mix liquid and then dried with krill powder, didn´t have 1 fish on them or fishing over them, not sure why

Must admit I've never soaked them for twelve months 😳. And it's only my observations in the margins which have brought me to those conclusions.
However if your fishing out in the pond it's difficult to assess anything really, as you never know if you would have caught with or without bait being soaked. I strongly suspect it's a situation where people glug their bait and catch so are convinced that's why, when they may have caught without it anyway. So they continue to use it .
I've even gone as far as thinking it could be a repellent ! Surely if everyone is adding large amount of glug then it can't be hard for the carp to learn by association that a bed of bait oozing out attraction is dangerous. But those baits which have been left a few days and are 'washed out' are now safe !
Of course it could also be lake dependant !

Hi, just to clarify: Haith's does not ‘supply' Kingfisher Red. Haith's has no association with this product. Simon
