One of the Lakes i fish fairly regularly is quite shallow and has a problem with large amounts of Tufties which are frequently from first light until dark diving on your spots and causing general mayhem.
Someone mentioned to me that a laser pen can act as a deterrent.
Has anyone else found this to be effective or not?

Purchased one a few months ago solely for the eye of an unsuspecting thief who may fancy trying fcuk my shed over. Oh, and for deserts a lovely pickaxe handle.....

If you ever suffer with migraine headaches you should be careful with those things, had a mate who had terrible ones after using his laser pen.

Expensive I know but j brought a tufty torch works really well during the day best £45 I've ever spent unfortunately the shop j brought it from has closed down but think they are available on ebay

Worth every penny mate it's a big red laser i think it's called creed scares all birds apart from swans and seagulls.worth every penny in my opinion also last for hours.

Ive got quite a powerful green laser pen, which only seems to work well on ducks, used it on coots last week and they ignored it

I found with laser pens they really only work at night or low level light this thing works in sunny conditions. I was very sceptical at first when I brought it but was so surprised how well it worked. You do get the odd coot that doesnt give a monkey's

I've just bought a tufty torch and to be honest I think it's well over priced!!! A cheap green laser pen is just as good

I agree, mine's sat in the van for months. I'm back to a green laser pen.

I had a problem with swans. The green pen didn't bother them, but the red one got them pecking themselves.

I had a look into this, by the time you choose one thinking its the same as a tufty torch and discarded a number of useless dangerous chinise rip offs, you would probably have spend 50 quid and 10 hours researching it.....I did buy one which works quite similar to the tufty torch but not as powerful. i could give you the details from ebay think i t cost 8 quid.

i bought one for about £8 on ebay, jeeze, the ducks go crazy at night when they see it as do the geese and swans.

Save some money and visit the torch factory, get an Evo torch and buy a red pill, we use these for lamping/shooting and they do exactly the same thing, it's basically an intense Cree led with a conical focused lense, they run on li-on 18650 batteries and the body of the torch can be extended to receive 2x batteries if extended use is anticipated 👍

The cheap eBay torches work a treat, the zoomable is much better, put the red one on a narrow beam and coots **** themselves, only seems to work well with coots though but they are usually the biggest problem anyway LINK

Green laser pen has always worked well for me. Every bird has vacated the area quick, swans swim away rapid too.

I had a gang of crows come in to roost in the trees above me the other night causing a right racket. A quick wave of the laser into the trees and they were gone in a second and did not return.
