sold quite a few old hutchie, nash & original nutrabaits flavours in the last year for a few quid on the bay. Good demand for some of them to make 'specials' tbh.

I found a load tucked on the back of a shelf in a shop in Cambridge 4 years ago, about 100 bottles and tubs of stim mostly catchum, Hutchy and Duncan Kay, bought most for 50p-£1 a bottle. By the time I sold them on eBay i was about 2k up, no exaggeration I'd say the prices on most now have doubled since then. I only ever used a bottle of mystere myself.

a bottle of mystere

Mystere...Now that was a flavour and a half. It was always overshadowed by Scopex but Mystere and Topper were every bit as good.

Found a bottle of Tackle Box - Ming Oil by Lee Jackson in an old bait bucket. Not even used it.

Good ol' Ming oil
Marketed as such, as I believe because they couldn't call it Mi*ge oil
Great stuff.

I can't believe people are willing to be 300 odd quid for a small bottle of flavouring! That's insane!! I thew away a load of old Nash flavours years ago cos I thought they were so old they'd probably be no good. Little did I know they'd be worth a fortune some day!

I would take a stab in the dark and say some of the people paying silly money for the old flavours are the guys making hookbaits as a business. There are a few guys online selling pop ups advertised as being made with original flavours, and the prices they are charging, i wouldnt mind betting they are still making a few quid even after paying silly prices for the flavours.

The ironic thing is i see some of the later hutchie flavours going for silly money (by later i mean the hutchie dream team days not the modern rubbish) When they were readily available shops couldnt shift them. Now they are discontinued suddenly they are the holy grail..

I am no bait expert but i did read flavours degrade over time is this not true? Same as all aspects of bait personally i would prefer as fresh as possible, plenty modern day flavours/additives to choose from!

Got to be hook bait makers as that's a lot of money to pay out for flavour/s that may or may not be as effective as the carpers ‘rose tinted' glasses remember them to be.

Are these just a nostalgia purchase, or do those particular Sought after attractors not deteriorate over time ?

Still got to cast them out in the right place, at the right time amongst feeding fish

Who knows what's happened to the chemicals in these things, maybe something has changed for the better but most likely nothing more than nostalgia but perhaps there's something worth trying.

One day far into the future.
