Hi guys, just wanted to ask about your preferences for bite indicators with the delkim alarms, I can imagine that the Nitelite indicators are a little awkward to use as i suppose you have to remove the carbon arms whenever you pack down, are they strong enough to last a season or 2 or does the bits end up damaged/lost? Also do they drain the batteries a lot ?

Having used Solars indicator systems for years I moved over to the delkim indicator range and the slim lite has been superb. However the MPS defiant is the best imho.

To be fair they are brilliant.....
Don't make much difference to battery life at all and they are strong enough for sure.
Whether or not £38 each is reasonable I'm not too sure but they are defo a really good bit of kit and very well thought out.

I use the slim lite indicators on my delkims and tbh I think they are brilliant, I love mine they don't effect battery life that much. The carbon arms unclip anyway so it's easy to take off when packing down.
I wouldn't use any others they really are brilliant, are they worth it? I would definitely say yes and would buy them again tomorrow if I had to, but it's your decision if you think they are or not
Never had a problem with mine they are still working fine and had them for a couple years now, just changed the alarms when the new ones came out

Cheers, I have MPS stuff already, and will probably use that when i eventually get out, but if this lock down carries on i expect ill be forced to buy some delk ones out of boredom , Ive noticed the delkim say the slim lite is not for extreme range but im guessing thats just becouse of the weight is lighter than the nite lite version is that correct? Ive seen loads on the bank but never really paid attention to other peoples alarms.

Having always had Fox swingers of one form or another I now have the ES sets and love them, especially with the extra weights you can add. Never really seen the point in just bobbins that can blow about all over the place, apart from being 'Carpy' of course

I have used it to 100 plus yards and it's alright with the added weights although the scorpion arm would be preferable etc
I've prefer them for slack lining short to medium range.

I dont take the arms off, I leave them on and they fold on top of the protective case, I only disconnect the Nitelite indicators. Ive never had any issues with them breaking or any damage, I can see them lasting many years, not just a season or two. The battery life would be a year at least.

I don't even go that far, leave the whole lot connected and put them in a pocket on the rucksack

Same as that. Leave the arms attached. Always remove the indicators. Never had a problem.
I love mine. Costly, but worth it (to me). And battery life is great, although mine don't go off that often.

If that's on the NiteLite Pro it must be muck as it's small stainless steel magnetic balls as far as I know

Like the look of the ES ones or the the older white type slimlites. Hopefully getting my delks this week so no doubt ill be buying one of those sets before this virus malarkey is over and i can get out on the bank. And then i will hopefully have found my forever alarms

Yep, pure stainless isn't magnetic, low end stainless steel has some magnetivity but not that much. So more than likely just steel ball bearings, possibly coated when built.

All steel is magnetic to varying degrees, even top quality stainless. All steels contain iron. It's nickel/chromium that prevents stainless steel from rusting - it is made up of at least 50% iron.

That variation is huge though, the magnet I use for stud finding takes two hands to get off an rsj but barely pulls at all on decent stainless, it wouldn't even support its own weight

This is true. It all depends of the type of stainless. Austenitic is less magnetic. Martensitic more so.

I thought mine had started to rust last week so I decided to give them a clean with a small bristle brush and its cleaned them right up. I got my magnifying glass out and the magnets have tiny indentations in them and the dirt must have got in to them. I got mine soon after they were release and no rust yet.

It looks like corrosion to me mate, I think the Delkim storage tube I keep them in, may be playing a part in all this. I've mailed them so we're see.

Bobbins hung on the piss, had corrosion, metal balls wouldn't roll with the line. Got rid and went with elstow bobbins with mcf chain

Just had 3 slim lites turn up today. Look spot on, cant get the blue one to work for the life of me though. Had 3 sent from AD but one seems not to light up.
AD have said they will replace but dont sound great from a quality view..

Make sure you have pushed it in the whole way and spin the connector round may work....
If not it's defo faulty
Make sure you have tried it that one of the other alarms as well just to see if it isn't the alarm itself

Yeah tried it on alarms that work tried ones that work on the other alarm and all sorts. Just dont light up.

Delkim or the shop will replace. Anything mass produced will have the odd issue. Annoying but they are good so once replaced you'll be happy again
