Many would fall at the first hurdle, Adam.
You can't truly travel light with a bedchair and some people are too scared of creepy crawlies to entertain anything but a nylon capsule and sun lounger on steroids

You might be right there noj...I'm going to get that DD tent,and the mesh inner..
I don't mind kipping on the deck,as I use a multi mat, and reflector..one big pond comes to mind..!!
Could be a great idea for someone though,who's truly mobile...
I did two days on a river fitted everything, into 38 litre Kombat UK backpack including water...😇

Fair dos mate,....I'm nr 55,and not too bothered..
(I'm not bigging meself up or anything)...ive slept on tarp s,under ,poncho tarp,even a crappy trakker barrow cover, not something I'd reccomend though..ive even slept on the priest hole as well,on a poncho...

I wish i was still 14 and could sleep on the bank with just a coat over me. However I'm 59 and it's just not going to happen. I used to crash out at friends places with just a curtain over me. It's a different world I live in now unfortunately.Be realistic tbere is a need for a minimum level of comfort and warmth required on tbe bank nowadays.

Totally,totally...I know I'm a bit different to the norm,wish I could workout how to put uppics on here,think I'd shock a few people..
Modern minimalist kit is very warm and comfy,Thermarests,et al...I don't fish like this all the time,but,especially if its special and a walk is involved....or just one rodding...its fun...!!

Your right mate,its totally opposite to what is perceived..
Tomorrow I'm quarry camping,when most are sat in front of the box,I'll have a mini pit fire,and warm as toast...do a bit of fishing,then a rattlers...night,night....I gotta banshee two man ,but looking into a baker style ...
( I still do the barrow,bedchair thing,but where I live,its wild man,...so I regress)

That's it mate, deal with the moisture or temperature issues of sleeping on the ground and it's actually more comfortable for me. Bed chairs keep getting firmer and flatter, nowt as flat or firm as the ground lol

I have done many nights in a decent hammock or on a thermarest under a tarp or a small mountain tent. You can get a chair kit for the therma.Tarp is good to have anyway, for sitting under. A kelly kettle and freeze dried food is ok for a couple of nights. Everything goes in a 80 litre rucksack.
Dragging a bedchair through rough terrain is not really an option on some of the places here.

Hi mate,the npower is a very small table woodburner,its not a gasifier though,it incorporates a drop down burning chamber built into a small folding table....made from alloy and stainless,
It won't burn the grass, and you can get a very smart clip together bamboo table with legs,it all clips together..,the table is smart,even as a stand alone product..

When I bought the thinking anglers matt I dropped it indoors then went out, when I got back a couple of hours later both my kids were asleep on it
If it was just a bit longer I'd sleep on it myself

The jrc hi care was pretty good if you took the oval matt bit out and folded the cot bit up you had a pillow too
Trouble was, the water etc soaked in so after a while it reeked

We have probably forgot where we came from for me

Nowadays we are more bothered about wiping the bivvy groundheet clean with baby wipes
I grew up fishing with **** all, fishing days and nights and I still prefer that today if I'm honest. I do have loads of camping gear though

That has not really been a problem. Casting from the steep banks have been a challenge thou.
And forgetting the paddle and having to use two bucket lids. Thats pretty minimalist. Glad nobody saw me then

Problem is I have to carry the boat and all the gear through a pretty rough terrain to get there. And that boat, weighing only 15 lbs can carry 850 lbs so it won't be overloaded.
But 9 foot rods is something to consider.

Have any of you guys watched some of Joe Robinet's stuff on YouTube? Guy does some amazing canoe trips in Canada and fishes for pike etc. to feed himself as he goes. Really shows how gear can be used properly when everything has his purpose and he's carrying everything and a canoe on his back when he's trecking through woods etc.
He is crazy, and I wished I had his courage and daring. Personally, this guy inspired me to get out of my comfort zone. I wasn't a big fan of fishing or camping, but since I watched his adventure, I told my wife, darling, let's buy a canoe and do some crazy stuff too because we have lived a boring life till now. We used to travel abroad, eating in good restaurants, sleeping in hotels, and having Italian breakfast.
So, we consulted many blogs in search of gears and places. Thankful for discovering Outdoor Life Cafe, here we got all the information needed for buying the necessary stuff. Now, are one year adventure couple, that trying to discover all beautiful places of Orlando.
