My T4 has started acting odd. Unless I have the gas really low it sort of blows itself out, like it's all air and hardly any gas coming through, anyone else had this happen with a gas stove?

Obvious question I know but have you tried cleaning it? Maybe it's a blocked injector? Also have you tried a different gas bottle?

I've tried different bottles that didn't make any difference and not sure how to clean it to be honest.

Thanks. I'm actually on the bank at the mo but with the aid of some crimping pliers, a spoon and a hook sharpening file I seem to have got it going again. Managed to fathom out how to dismantle it and I found the tiny metal filter on the back of the jet was covered in carbon. Filed it all off and it seems a lot better now.

I have also bought another T4 as a spare off Amazon seeing as they are now only about £23, don't want to get caught out like that again especially in the colder months. Even if I could give the A-Team and Bear Grylls a run for their money!
There seems to be quite a few with other companies logos on like this THIS one. All just doing what Trakker have done but for cheaper rather than 3 x the price

All gas stoves need cleaning, they have always got a filter on to stop bits going through.
I used to clean my old one every winter if I didn't the flame got weaker and weaker.
At first I thought it was the cold affecting the gas.
I spray mine with penetrating fluid, WD40 etc then blow through it and give it a scrub.

Glad this post came up, my bulin has been playing up gradually losing power over the last few months with me needing to tip the gas canister over far earlier than it used to.
So spurned on by comments on here I have just taken it to bits and found a sooted up filter right under the tiny hole the gas comes out from. Have scratched all the soot off and put it back together it works so much better....well worth the 15 minutes it took to do it.

Just sold my Primus gravity and bought a new T4 two weeks ago after following recommendations on here. Nobody mentioned having problems with them or performance dropping off after a while at all. Last week they were the best thing since sliced bread and this week they can be iffy sometimes.
Luckily I'm handy with a screwdriver so armed with this info I can head it off at the pass or keep the Swiss Army knife handy on the bank. Cheers to the OP and others for the heads up.
Still I suppose at £22 posted they aren't that far off being a disposable item for non screwdriver inclined people.

I don't have the same stove but every 6 months or so mine drops power and takes an age to boil water.
When taking mine apart I give all the parts a good blast of wd40, seems to do the trick every time.

Every 6 months or so buy a litre of cheap Coke, the full fat version. Chuck it in a bowl and bung the stove in for 24 hrs, will come out like new as far as the metal parts go.

Be careful using WD 40, it can destroy silicone or rubber seals. I've seen it happen in front of my own eyes when I was doing some maintance work which involved seals and they just expanded and deformed the moment WD 40 got on them.
I've ruined silicone seals on alarms and also rubber seals on my bikes with WD40. These days I will only use WD 40 on metal only and GT85 on combinations of metal and silicone or rubber seals

It's a long time since I did it but I remember the filter is really small and just looks like a solid bit of metal, only about 5mil across if that. When you clean it you will see it is, hard to describe but like a cross section of multicore cable, the only thing I can find that resembles it is the ‘conductor' part of this image, but really tiny.

Update; had another look and only found a wire which just looks like a mini steel cable. You can access it without taking the stove apart. There's a screw on the bottom of the brassy looking attachment where the gas comes in. Unscrew it and pull the wire out. I cleaned mine with a scrubber pad to get the carbon off. Working okay at the moment now. Hope it lasts!

Sorry to hijack the thread but has anyone attempted to extend the gas pipe? Aliexpress, where I get all my Bulins from, do generic extensions...
That's my only one, very minor criticism of the Bulin stove, is that gas pipe is just a bit too short for me!

its packed up. I'm an engineer by trade and have taken it apart and will say Bulin is absolute crap!
i've cleaned it, the jet was blocked and burner internal wire corroded, got it going again, however I doubt if it will last a season out.
guy on YT recommends chickland one only £8.00 ebay ...now gone up to 9.99 sent to ya door from UK, Power: 3500W & Igniter ...he says 2 years and hes had NO probs.
IMO, far better to buy a couple or more of cheapo's - then you may get the price down p/stove to £7 !!
...its ironic what crap they make today, as i still have my original old BRIT 1980 camping gas stove that takes the blue canisters, and its been used for donkeys of years still works fine, only prob is the canisters are EXPENSIVE if ya can even find them!

They really arent. They may not be the best build quality, but they are widely regarded as a good stove by most on here. I bought a cheapy eBay thing for less than a tenner and it lasted a couple of months before falling apart, so back to my old bulin which I've had for around 10 years now and it's still going strong . Hardly call that ****

I think you've been unlucky mate. They're well regarded, I think mine is 6 or 7 years old now. Still works ok. These are ultimately cheapo tat from China, but one of the better examples of cheapo tat

yep seems I've just been unlucky, i remember when i bought it was supposed to be made in Germany?
BUT...i do get bitter & twisted and MOAN on the quality of what's made today, just look at bivvy/brolly systems, i could design a BETTER quality product for what these RIP-OFF tackle-barons charge and it would be FAR SUPERIOR AND LAST 20 YEARS!

Works out about 50p a session. Hardly the end of the world is it ? Just buy a new one.
I've got one and its spot on but it's 24 pound not 70 so if it breaks after 60 goes over 3 years il be more than happy.
