I use 20lb cheap Chinese spectra braid with a shockleader. All good up to 30-32 wraps.

But that depends on how far you need to cast?
Can you get 30 wraps with 15lb line and a leader?

I use 15lb mono with a 50lb shock leader works well a little bit of stretch but nothing major.

having been using the 0.10 32lb Berkley Whiplash for the spring, I'd recommend AGINST it for any majorly repetitive work (think 3 buckets a week for instance) had it go at the clip once, and weirdly another time it went when I had an issue with anti reverse slipping on while spamming (both times got it back mind you)
great caster, will send a lead miles. but for harsh repeated spombing, probably not the best. was used in conjunction with a 50lb Spomb leader.

Been using Gardner Kinetic Spod in 30lb up to 120yds no problem. 0.3 diameter with a midi spod no issues at all.

Shock leaders - try with a nice tidy double uni knot - works for me, braid to braid. Can't speak for mono to braid.
Other thing not to take too much notice of with braid is the diameter; different manufacturers measure differently - I understand braid is easier to 'squish' than mono, leading to inconsistencies between manufacturers stated dia:
- Berkley Whiplash 20lb = 0.06mm
- Gardner Kinetic Distance 20lb = 0.20mm

Waiting on someone to put out tapered braid 300yds. I really dislike shock leaders.

I've got it on atm, first season using it and so many wind knots i've allready brought a replacement.
Maybe my own fault, as i try 5 or 6 chucks before rw-wetting.
Expensive stuff for the longevity is my verdict so far. Ordered some of that 8 strand yelllow teemu stuff £6 for 500 metres 0.23mm. Can afford to replace that stuff reguarly if needed

Pretty much the same, 30-40lb braid off Amazon straight through. Tenner a spool.

ESP Distance Spod braid is 0.17 / 20lb . . . . .only prob with thinner = more likelihood of windknots / frap ups . .

I use korda spod braid (same as 20lb daiwa J briad I think) with a 50lb leader
I fish at reasonable range a fair bit and cant think of a better combination

I use 20lb 0.16 J Braid, wouldnt want to go lower than that really. Having said that Fox now do the XD Pro braid which is 0.14.

I've been using cheap Chinese braid in 30lb straight through for years and never had a crack off, used with various spombs at various ranges.

Korda’s SLR braid is sold as an ultra thin casting braid for extreme range. It doesn’t say breaking strain or diameter on the packet and they say it has to be used with a 30lb Armakord leader. It is incredibly thin and makes long range casting very easy
